ATSEAMYLIFE Posted December 20, 2023 #1 Share Posted December 20, 2023 (edited) I just saw this article on SFGATE regarding planned "hours" long delays at SFO next year due to construction on the "sinking" runways. If flying in/out of SFO next year you might want to plan accordingly. https://www.sfgate.com/travel/article/sfo-announces-2024-runway-project-18561498.php Edited December 20, 2023 by ATSEAMYLIFE

Small consolation for us flying Jan-Feb-Mar-Apr. Luckily I'm doing Maui from Sacramento.
Meander Ingwa Posted December 20, 2023 #4 Share Posted December 20, 2023 consider using San Jose or even Sacramento. 1 1/2 to 2 hour drive from Sac might bring more peace of mind

dmwnc1959 Posted January 5 #7 Share Posted January 5 Thanks for the article, had me really concerned for a moment. Not flying in until Jan. 2025, so I should be safe. 😎
Philob Posted January 5 #8 Share Posted January 5 (edited) Delays can happen anytime and anywhere. Key is to plan ahead and have options. SFO is not the only airport with sinking runways, Kansai Int'l Airport (Japan) has sank about 8m since completion. They "hours long delays" probably will not happen. There may be some delays but not "hours long."

You say "HOURS" long delays while the article says 30-60 mins at peak times! Way to exaggerate!

I used "massive" in my Topic Headline. I'm guessing SFGate to much pushback and edited their article. Edited January 17 by ATSEAMYLIFE
