No I tend to agree.  Same as Dubrovnik, last time we were there, 4 enormous ships and Aurora.  Could not move in the town at all.  It was awful.

Hardly. It’s grossly overtouristed, just as parts of Spain used to be, and they can well afford to be more selective. Cruise passengers bring very little money to a place compared with those who actually stay there for a few days. Amsterdam has a similar approach.

Yes that's true.  Cruise passengers spend very little ashore.  We always DIY and do have lunch out, as it makes such a lovely change

But this latest restriction is not aimed specifically at cruise passenges but at all tourists

Absolutely, but they’re primarily day trippers, like cruise passengers, and don’t bring enough into Venice to compensate for the damage caused by overtourism.

It will stop a coach load of cruise people on an excursion, unless you split them into 2 and they all have headsets!
