cruisy Posted January 14 #1 Share Posted January 14 Has anyone been to this shop on Nassau? They have an Instagram, and their bags are very nice compared to the straw market ones. They have a shop, but it is "by appointment only". I am curious about their pricing, and I don't want to make an appointment to go to their shop just to find out that the prices are out of my comfort zone. Honestly, it looks a bit like an "if you have to ask you can't afford it" type of place, but you never know...(reminds me of the sail cloth totes in Maine cruise ports, cool, but SO EXPENSIVE)

jsn55 Posted January 15 #3 Share Posted January 15 Selling bags like this 'by appointment only' makes no sense. You make an appointment to buy a Jaguar or a Bentley or a hundred bags wholesale. Hopefully somebody on these boards will walk into the Down Home Bahamas Center one day and see if it's real.
57redbird Posted January 15 #4 Share Posted January 15 Did you do a Google search for the store?
TwinMamainMN Posted January 16 #5 Share Posted January 16 I was curious so I did a google search. Other than photos and links to IG, I see nothing about them online. No store listing with address, hours, phone or website. Seems fishy. Proceed with caution.
MacMadame Posted January 16 #6 Share Posted January 16 (edited) By appointment is sometimes how sole proprietors do it. Especially if they are working out of their house. Hopefully someone who has actual experience with this company will chime in. Edited January 16 by MacMadame
KINGBOBOFTHENORTH Posted February 2 #7 Share Posted February 2 For what it's worth, none of that stuff is actually made in the Bahamas. They want you to think it is but it's all imported from Asia. IMO, just go to the Straw Market and you'll find the same stuff and you can negotiate the price.
