After logging in I select "AARP Rewards" then "members only" from the "redeem" section of "rewards." Scroll down to the HAL cards.

I also couldn't find them.

There was an issue where I was concerned. I had to talk to quite a few people before I got a resolved. I have been a member for 22 years but somehow I could not get into the rewards. The representatives were wonderful And somehow it got it done., you may have to call AARP

Another question: When you buy the card on the AARP site, is the payee HAL or AARP on the credit card statement? This could affect insurance coverage for me.

I see AARP on my statements; that's who you bought them from.

How do you purchase gift cards if you’re not a member?

Do I have to join ?

TIA

For these cards you do. Some cards on the AARP do not say members only.

Yes. I did.  Then I later bought more and made a payment. Just bought cards to make final payment.

I have always gotten the cards via email within a few hours of buying them, but it can take up to 48 hours. Just an fyi if you want to use them for a deposit.

Don’t forget to check the spam folder.

They sometimes delay as a security measure. If it’s your first time buying cards and it’s a large amount they wait a bit.

They do go to the email address in your AARP profile and could be in your spam folder. The biggest lag time I've had in receiving is a couple hours. That was only 1 time and had been a while ago. They usually show up in a matter of minutes
