Transatlantic Florida - Portugal (April) Sunset Aft Veranda Good Choice?

We are booked for an April Transatlantic cruise leaving FLL that ends up in Portugal.  This will be our first transatlantic crossing and the first time we will be in a sunset veranda so are looking for information from others who have sailed similar before to see if you'd do it again.  Completely understand that the weather is unpredictable, which is why we're hoping to get some insight on past experiences.

 

I have an image in my head of lounging on the balcony, while enjoying the sunshine, with a book and drink in hand while randomly looking up to admire the wake every so often. Then during the evening, taking in the amazing sunsets with a glass of wine and our canapes.🍷🌅

 

Please tell me we made a good choice and the experience is everything imagined!

We did the Celebrity transatlantic last April. It rained the entire trip from Ft Lauderdale to Rome. We did not stop at the Azores due to weather. The Beyond was gorgeous though

That might happen :).  Then again, it might not happen :(.

Why are you yelling in caps and was the intent of your response to be belittling and make someone feel crappy?  If that wasn't your intent, then maybe reread both my original post and your response to see if there could have been a kinder way to share your thoughts.  This is suppose to be a fun travel community so no need to be mean and condescending to each other, even if you think the question is stupid... there's enough of that everywhere else.

The post was specifically directed to people who have previously sailed in an aft balcony on a transatlantic cruise to share their experience and whether or not they would do it again.  So, not like asking a newborn what college they want to go to... It was LITERALLY asking people that had done this before to share their experience.  Sorry if the title of the topic made it seem like I was asking an impossible question, I thought the post itself was clear.  Also, I am aware that the weather is unpredictable which is why I wrote that as the last line in my first paragraph.

 

In case I'm mistaken, and you truly thought you were adding cheer and insightful information, here is another way you could have worded your response that would have come across kinder but while still sharing your experience:

 

"Having done several transatlantic cruises over several years, I can share that the weather is anything but predictable. ie ; calm as a pond in November & crazy almost hurricane winds in the spring( one ship had work done on the bow where the waves actually dented the front of the ship/bow). So, although my transatlantic experiences do not include an aft cabin (I prefer less motion so stay to the middle of the ship), I can tell you that I would, and have, done transatlantic crossings over and over because they are a great option for an itinerary (despite not one of them being predictable for weather) .  I wish you luck and hope your cruise turns out as imagined!"

 

This trip is coming up really soon and we are super excited, I hope the next time your getting ready to travel that no one intentionally, or unintentionally, tries to bring you down.
