Main Dining Room & My Time Dining Questions

Recommended Posts

Going on 7 night Harmony out of Galveston May 26th.

Are the theme dining menus pretty much the same for this cruise as other 7 night cruises ?

1st night  Welcome Aboard

2nd   Formal French

3rd    Italian

4th    Caribbean

5th    Mexican

6th    Formal Royal Night (Lobster tails)

7th    Bon Voyage/Mediterranean

We are trying to make one specialty dining reservation and want to plan around the menu we feel is the weakest.

Also...  We chose My Time Dining and already see reservations are booked up till 7:45/8 p.m. every night

Are there options to show up and wait in a queue anytime we wish and if so is there an average waiting time you tend to see?

Yes, the wait time varies greatly.

The menu should be the same - you can confirm it in the app set to the current sailing (not yours).

If you get on board and discover you've "missed the target" you can go to the restaurant in question and ask them to change it to a day that works better for you. If you need to do this, do it as soon as you can on boarding day to get the widest choice of available days/times.

MyTime will officially start around 6:45 but people will line up in both reservation and non-reservation lines starting around 6:20.  Often the hosts will walk down the lines and ask if anyone wants to be seated now on a different floor.  If so, you get escorted to another level of the dining room.

Menu order and what is offered can change randomly.  Typically "formal" nights are 2 and 6, usually on sea days.  Look at Harmony sailings within a week of present time on the app doing the same itinerary as yours for a clue as to what you will have.  If those are not available try another Oasis class ship doing a similar itinerary and ports on similar days to yours.

And do not forget the buffet is also good. you can see the food and take the quantities you want.

Harmony is big ship with lots to do and sometimes a quick dinner in Windjammer is good to consider.

I recommend making a reservation for the earliest time currently available. When we were on Odyssey recently we were unable to get the times we wanted for MTD. We showed up at our preferred time anyway and were told to get in the line for those with reservations. Each night we were seated right away and they usually were able to seat us with the same wait staff.

Yes, those are the standard MDR menus now.  You can see them in your phone app, and they'll be posted ahead of time on TVs outside the MDR.

We always go with My Time Dining, and the most we've waited has been about 10 minutes.

Yes, remember the buffet is always an option.  While we enjoy the MDR, we don't necessarily enjoy a lengthy dinner every single night.
