But you get 4 - 5 or 6 drink vouchers at the Diamond level or higher.

You have to use a drink voucher or charge your SeaPass if you don't already have the premium drink package.

I am not motivated by free drinks. Others seem to be.

I am shamelessly motivated by comps. I won't book a Carnival cruise anymore unless the fare is free and I get free drinks - preferably everywhere, but at least in the Casino.

Why pay for something you can get for free?

Same here. I won't book Carnival unless a comped casino rate because for me Carnival's product is no longer worth paying for. And even moreso when I have free cruise offers from Royal and Carnival.

Oh I'm not against paying for Carnival. Carnival is not as good as it used to be but nothing else is either. :classic_cool:

They absolutely do. Go to any other cruise line forum on this site and within the first page or two you'll find at least one post where the OP reports a negative experience and numerous posts defending the cruise line. Never underestimate the power of loyalty.

I'm talking about the Royal and Carnival back and forth.  You are correct that every cruise line has its defenders.  However, if I post about Princess or Celebrity on this or Royal's board, the level of responses won't be as ferocious.  I've never seen that back and forth on the Princess or Celebrity boards, either.

Royal and Carnival are the two biggest brands with the most customers.

People are loyal to a brand because they are comfortable with it. As long as the brand keeps them happy and they feel that they’re getting valued for what they pay for they stay.

Once you’ve cruised many cruise lines and realize that the products are very similar in many ways and it’s the little perks that get people to go back. Weather it be casino comps, free alcohol, free  laundry, a meal at an upscale restaurant, or just the ability to get on and off the ship early - everybody has something that they feel is a perk that gives them extra value to the cruise fair that they pay.

Actual cruise fares have gone up across-the-board but I believe more on Royal than anybody else. However, if one books early on a group fair or gets a casino comp there are some affordable trips to be taken even on the more expensive fair ships. I I am sure though that Carnival if they could figure out a way of increasing the base fair, they would do it in a heartbeat. Even if it meant giving out more free drinks or a luggage tag to every single person.

The demographics for both lines is substantially the same as well.
