Cancelled booking. Are there Gremlins?

So 3 weeks ago I booked a 3 week tour of South Africa which included a 12 night Azamara cruise (January 25). I’ve had murder ever since. It took me 3 weeks to finally get my confirmation number so that I was able to start making my excursion bookings. That confirmation number finally arrived yesterday (cabin number also assigned)  I Was able to log in last night and start viewing the available excursions. I Went to log in today to actually get them booked but my cruise had been cancelled and I wasn’t able to book anything. I Rang Azamara and spoke to a very excitable lady that had either suffered a stroke or was in the midst of a fantastic session of day drinking whilst working from home. Her speech was so slurred I really struggled to follow along. She wasn’t able to tell me when or why my booking was cancelled but was able to confirm that it was cancelled. Her managers didn’t know anything either. I Spoke to my UK tour operator too who could see no reason for the cancellation. The tour is going ahead and bookable, the cruise is going ahead and bookable. What on earth is going on? Is their booking system really so glitchy? Am I booked or not? This is a big holiday for me with many bucket list moments but I’m really starting to worry about their competence and wether or not they will deliver. I’ve wanted to sail Azamara for a long time but I’m worried now that I’ve made the wrong choice.

I’d try ringing again to speak to someone different.

If you have booked through a travel agent pass it all over to them to sort out. They should be the first point of contact for you. 

Luckily, my Travel Agent is also my partner so he was straight onto it. Unfortunately, being a Saturday he couldn’t get much sense from anyone. I’ll see if I can speak to somebody sober tomorrow.

Will do, I was ready to push the button on several other elements of the holiday but will be holding back for now. The tour operator couldn’t get any information and the slurry Azamara lady could only confirm that the cruise was going ahead but my booking was definitely cancelled but couldn’t tell me when, how or why.

Well it is now showing as being booked again. I Can’t get any explanation as to what has happened or why but at least it’s booked again. I’m a bit wary of booking and paying for my excursions just yet in case it happens again.
