This is our first yacht club booking, we jumped on a deal.

we plan on using that room service quite a bit.

How much do you give him/Her each time they show up with food or drinks?

$3-$5? More? Less?

Thxs

Your assigned room butler may not always be the one who attends to your requests. It will depend on availability and their other duties. (For instance, some butlers may be assigned to the One Pool during the day and other butlers might bring stuff to you. Or during the overnight hours, the night butler might be the one to respond.)

We tip at the end of our cruise. We choose the staff who we've inteacted with the most and tip them accordingly. To us, a little tip here and there seems more of an insult than a lump sum to recognize the wonderful service they provide.

We tend to agree considering our assigned butler or waiters, but to an occasional, onetime, infrequent, service provider; with the value of the dollar dropping with inflation every year, $5 seems the 'new' $2-$3 tip. We still tip $2-$3 for drink delivery in TSL or OnePool. Or if a different waiter at breakfast or lunch, we tip $10 after each of these meals. Definitely tip at the very last day/evening for superb service for the week. If B2B after each week.

If the TSL or One Pool Deck is crowded and one is not going to give up ones chair/lounge/pergola any time soon. It might be advantageous to up the tip to $5 in such an environment to assure oneself of more 'fluid' service.

The expectation is zero, the advice from MSC is zero, as ever people will do as they wish, but you will not experience expectation of tipping per service as you have already paid for this aspect within your standard daily service charge.

Tipping at the end of the cruise is of course very common.

This is from “theodysseyonline.com. The five types of non-tippers no waiter wants to serve ‘that guy’. #5 I shouldn’t have to pay for good service ‘guy’. This guy is the absolute worst. Whether good or bad service he is not leaving a dime. I dare you to tell your servers you are not going to be tipping at the end of the (cruise). Let them go out and make their money from other patrons while you get the bare minimum which is really what you paid for.”

P.S. The hotel service charge is the bare minimum.

We always tip at the end to those who have provided good service, this tipping for every drink delivered in bar is not normal practice throughout world except USA . Most nationalities would not consider it

In YC we don’t tip until the end of the cruise. Sorry, but it seems a bit crass to tip for each rendered service.

We tip well at the end of the cruise. Does that mean everyone who ever brought us a drink or waited our table gets a tip? No. But those who have gone above and beyond, most certainly.

Vaindioux, are you just asking about tipping for room service?  We always give a few $ to the one who delivers the food.

Yes indeed, if it is someone other than ones personal assigned butler. We feel funny tipping such small amounts to our personal butler piecemeal. May give butler impression they will not be getting a bigger tip at the end for exceptional service.
