So how has Alaska been so far this year?

Hi guys, just returned last week, on the Brilliance ots, was a beautiful week, the weather was in the 50's & 60"s, cloudy in Sitka, Juneau, with rain later in the evening, Haines a beautiful sunny day, an well, Ketchikan, it poured all day, oh tracy arm was cloudy & partly sunny. Other than that, it was a beautiful trip, saw a few eagles, no bears, a couple of whales.

Currently on the Sapphire Princess going south. Great weather so far. Due to ice, only got within 3 miles of Hubbard glacier today.  Too far away to see any calving even with binoculars. Glad I went on Kenai Fjord national park tour where I saw orca and humpback whales, puffins and sea lions. Hoping to see sea otters in glacier bay tomorrow.  

 

No rain in Seward or Whittier.

was on north bound 6/8-15. Had one rainy day in Ketchikan and rest of the trip was straight A weather wise. Some crew member said that week was the best week weather wise in their working history on this cruise line.

To all those who posted that it was raining in Ketchikan, based on our experience, we always say that if it's Ketchikan it must be raining. 😂

Concur with other posters, weather southbound 6/15 to 6/22 was blue skys during the day, a little overcast on what night we had…. Really nice.  Hubbard glacier ice was a bummer, but it was a great week!

Hubbard Glacier:  Although this excursion can be expensive, we always try to book the Hubbard Glacier excursion that is offered by the ship and operated by Allen Marine.  We have been extremely lucky on our trips and have seen beautiful and exciting calving.  The Allen Marine vessel gets us much closer to the glacier than the cruise ship.  Here is a picture from our May cruise.
