Newark Airport to Red Hook Brooklyn Cruise Terminal

Recommended Posts

We  will be arriving in NJ several days before our  cruise. We are  considering returning to the airport and taking the Princess Transfer to the Brooklyn Cruise  Terminal the day of the cruise. The cruise departs on a Saturday.

Please let us know if you have taken the transfer from Newark Airport.  What time does the transfer depart from the airport?  We like to get to the cruise terminal early and board early.

Another option can be taking an Uber or cab to the terminal.  We are  concerned if that would work travelling between two states.

We welcome your comments.

Thank you.

For answers about how the Princess transfers between EWR and Brooklyn work you should also ask that question on the Princess board since the procedures are specific to that cruise line. Also either you or your travel agent can call Princess customer service and ask them, although admittedly most cruise line customer service operations are less than helpful at times. Typically cruise lines have transfer agents located at airport baggage claim areas.

You can certainly take an Uber from wherever you'll be located (no need to go back to EWR) to the cruise terminal. Don't even think about taking a taxi. Taxis in NJ are generally pretty horrible and taking a taxi from NJ to NY will be expensive since it will have to return to NJ empty.

Upon arrival at EWR we  will be renting a car for several days and plan on returning the car to the airport very early the day of the cruise.  Guess it's the Princess shuttle or an Uber for us.

Thanks for your information.

The Uber will be a lot easier and take much less time than the Princess transfer. It will also most likely be less expensive for two people. You can call an Uber to one of the AirTrain stops to pick you up rather than having to go to the terminal proper.

They can probably get an Uber from the car rental return lot, which is at AirTrain station P3. If not only the P4 AirTrain station would permit motor vehicle pick up.

I took Cunard's transfer TO EWR (sister company) and aside from the driver getting lost, like DUDE, SERIOUSLY???? Did you NOT see the 10000 signs for the airport?? Did you LISTEN to the 5 passengers TELLING you that you missed the first exit and take the next one?? NOOO, then WHY are we 2 exits south of where we need to be???   the trip wasn't all bad and should have taken a bit over an hour.  90 minutes later, a bus load of annoyed people finally got to EWR.

I'm thinking that TO the pier would be OK but you'll be waiting for the bus to fill up and probably hauling your stuff out of the terminal and down to the side to where buses load up.

The transfers should board continuously from around 9 AM up until maybe 1 or 2.  Depending on where you're going to be in NJ, Uber or even a car service would be better.  Don't take a cab as cabs from NJ can't pick up a return fare in NY and they don 't have to take you and can essentially charge the meter plus whatever tolls and fees their company allows.  Ubers can be pre-booked but it's a bit more expensive.  You could check with Blacklane or Dial 7 as well.
