Cancel or No Show- Administrative Fee??

Recommended Posts

Hello, and apologies if this is a regular question, but a forum search yielded nothing this specific. We booked a cruise on a casino deal, and then had to move the cruise. Due to bad luck, we have to cancel the cruise outright. We have only paid $200 for the cruise (which would have been returned as OBC had we been able to go) but when I try to cancel online, it tells me the penalty to cancel is $300. So if I'm reading this correctly, they will charge me an extra $100 if I cancel in advance? We are approaching the final payment deadline where taxes and port fees are due and receiving the urgent final payment notice....what happens if I don't pay that and they cancel the reservation for non-payment? They don't have a card on file. Will they come after me for this extra $100?  And just to get this out of the way, I don't have travel insurance as the travel insurance costs more than the cruise. Anyone have a similar situation? Thanks.

They could come after you, or ban you, or anything else legal. The terms and conditions of the offer should spell it out for you. I suspect too many gamblers were booking casino deals and then didn't bother to show up.

How did you pay the $200 deposit? If you used a CC for that, then they would charge any extra to that card. When you click on the cancellation policy in your booking, it says if you cancel today, the charge is $300? How much is the cruise fare without the taxes and fees? If you have a non-refundable deposit, then it should be $200 fee if you cancel before the final payment date. If it's a non-refundable fare and the actual fare is more than $200, then yes, you might owe more than $200.

Did you use a future cruise credit on the new cruise? That's how much it says for me to cancel a cruise that I booked (same casino deal) and used a$100 fcc on. The original $200 + the $100 fcc =$300. My other cruise, same offer with no fcc, says $200 to cancel.
