Brooklyn Cruise Terminal timing

Advice please. Sailing out of Brooklyn Cruise Port for the first time. I have seen reviews of extremely long check in lines (2+ hours wait).
Is this the norm?
Any suggestions on the best time to try to arrive at the port to avoid an extreme on line wait time?

No problem with waiting to board after check in (having a place to sit), but prefer not standing for long periods to get checked in.

Thank you in advance.

Follow the documentation and directions from your Cruise Line will supply to you for Embarkation.

Depending on the Class/Category you will be sailing on the Ship, upper class have a lounge to wait in. The regular class cabins have a General Terminal Waiting Room all others will be waiting to be called to board.

Bring a snack if you need to. No Food Machine. No Soda/Water Machines.

In general, if you want to avoid standing in long lines at check-in and/or boarding, your best bets are to either show up at or just before the time check-in starts, or wait until the thundering herd has cleared check-in, say around 1PM, when you could probably walk up to the check-in counter, be passed through in a minute or two, then walk right on the ship. When we last sailed out of Brooklyn, on Princess two years ago, we arrived very early, just when check-in opened up (IIRC around 10AM?), went through Medallion check-in within minutes, then sat in the lounge for about an hour, when we proceeded to board among the very first passengers. We're big on maximizing our time on the ship ;o)

I’ve sailed QM2 out of Brooklyn three times — twice it took about a half hour after arriving at terminal (around noon) to board, the other time we got there just after 2:30 and essentially just walked on.  Perhaps Princess ships sailing from there are much larger or otherwise just take longer.

We too sailed many times on the QM2 since 2006.

I remember the days we use to come to Brooklyn at 11:15 since we live 12 minutes away, went thru the route of the terminal, sat in the Grill Lounge till 12 and 1210 were in the room. Not like what we hear today and what we experienced last year. Times have changed or just circumstances...
