maggietaggie Posted July 3 #1 Share Posted July 3 We will be staying 2 nights post cruise in central London. We will be using International Friends from Southampton port to London and stopping at Stonehenge and Windsor on disembarkation day. The following day we want to go to Westminster Abbey, Churchill War Rooms and London Eye. Looking for hotel recommendations in that area or that is fairly walkable. Willing to pay up to $500 per night. Thank you.
CruiserBruce Posted July 3 #2 Share Posted July 3 If you look around the board, there are many, many threads on London hotels. For the area you are asking about, the Conrad St James is a nice hotel close to those points of interest.
Rare markeb Posted July 3 #3 Share Posted July 3 There's a pinned thread on the board on London hotels. Good browsing for pros and cons of different hotels and areas. You should probably consider how you plan to get to the airport (Heathrow?) after your stay. You may be able to simplify that step when you choose your hotel. The Conrad shows rates under $500, but I don't know your dates. The area around Waterloo Station/County Hall is also very convenient to your points of interest, and "can" be more affordable. Marriott County Hall, Park Plaza Westminster Bridge, Park Plaza County Hall, and at least one Premier Inn location are in that area. Adjacent to the Eye and an easy walk to Westminster Abbey and the Churchill War Rooms. Convenient to the Waterloo Tube station to Heathrow (the Conrad is also convenient to the Tube). First thoughts. The places you want to visit are readily accessible by Tube or bus, so you don't have to be right there. And there will be hotels along the Elizabeth line for instance that are only a few minutes by Tube to where you want to visit, but are a straight shot to the airport when you're flying home.
phabric Posted July 3 #4 Share Posted July 3 I have stayed 4x at Premier Inn Waterloo. Hotel has A/C, bar, restaurant, entrance is street level, walking distance to Westminster Abbey, London Eye, Parliament, Thames River, Big Ben, Hop On Hop Off, 2 tube stations, Waterloo train station, regular bus, stores, restaurants, pubs, small grocery store. www.premierinn.com I used Just Airports, a car service from Premier Inn Waterloo to Heathrow. www.justairports.com
