Switching dining from Assigned Late to Your Time?

We have booked a cruise just 6 weeks before sailing and were not able to book the YT dining.  We have been assigned Late Dining, which just won't work for us as we are Early Birds, up at 5am every day.  So I know we go to the Matre'D the first day on ship to request the change... but do they always give it to you.  We are Platinum if that helps.

As Platinum, you get "Priority reservations at Main Dining Room and Specialty Restaurants".  While not guaranteed, they will normally do their best to accommodate you request.  Make sure you see the Matre'D as soon as possible, as if there are any openings they could be gone quickly.  Also, if there are none available, ask if you could be put on a list in case anyone decides to switch from 'Your Time' to early or late seating. 

 

Note that even Diamond does not say guaranteed 'Your Time' dining, only Early or Late.

We've done it and had it changed on board no problem. As long as it's just the two of you it should be switched.
