Rare FamilyAtSea.travel Posted July 24 #1 Share Posted July 24 We are here now and had rented a car with big plans to do Murray's Guide with my young kids. Right as we were leaving the ship we received a text from my rental car company saying due to a mudslide yesterday the highway is closed, so now we don't know what to do. Yesterday our excursion in Juneau (helicopter + dogsledding) Was canceled so we are two for two so far on our plans being canceled at the last second. The helicopter excursion I knew there was that potential, but I was not expecting this. Can anybody recommend a last second excursion we can book here in Skagway that an 8 and 9 year old will not be bored with? Based on my research, I think the train would probably be boring for them. Thank you in advance!

Rare NothingBeatsBaseball Posted July 24 #3 Share Posted July 24 My eight year old liked the train. My three year old fell asleep (that was an expensive nap). We also did about half of this trail, this is within walking distance of the ship. https://www.alltrails.com/trail/us/alaska/lower-dewey-lake-trail
AKStafford Posted July 24 #4 Share Posted July 24 The slide impacted the White Pass & Yukon Route as well: https://www.chilkatvalleynews.com/2024/07/23/skagway-cruise-passengers-headed-to-haines-after-being-trapped-in-canada-by-a-landslide

The tracks are closed beyond Fraser.
