NCL Wish List

I wish NCL would put together a couple of different drink menus:

1. A mocktail menu and bar for those that don't drink. My husband doesn't drink the boozey woozey. He'd love the heck out of a bar serving all sorts of different concoctions sans the devil's juice.

2. Suggestions for those that shouldn't drink a lot of sugar on drinks they can have. I'm sure a mixologist somewhere has thought of us diabetics. It'd be nice if NCL could give us some happy drinks that are tasty. I have a lifeline of vodka with club, splash of cranberry or spike the blood sugar. Other options would be amazing!

When I was on the NCL Star in July they had a few mocktail chocies on the menu, it would be nice to see more, but it could be the start and lead to other things.  My under 21 year old daughter tells me that the 18-20 year olds were mainly having either Shirley-Temples (sugar), or 'mint-water' (Water with mint leaves).  They didn't seem very interested in the prepared mocktails.

I have a shellfish allergy, and I report this to NCL for every cruise.  They do take this very seriously, including not letting me eat products that come already prepared that they do not have specific information on.

I don't encourage lying about this, but please know that the downside is that you will need to pre-order meals, which removes a lot of flexibility from anytime dining.  Also, quick meals almost never happen as the special order kitchen is small and can easily get backed up.  I understand this, and still really appreciate the effort that they put in to making sure that I stay alive and healthy while on vacation.

Thanks for that info!  I had a feeling I might open up a bigger "can of worms" than intended.  Oh well, another scheme bites the dust, lol.

I'm not diabetic so one strategy I use to avoid all the excess sugar and calories in my drinks is to order doubles.  To me the alcohol is worth the calories but the sugary juice is not.  I don't want to consume a whole glass of juice to get 1 ounce of liquor.  This way I at least ditch half the sugar.  I know that's not a good plan if you're diabetic but I'm just wanting to cut out what I can for weight control.  Kind of like ordering a diet coke with your cheeseburger - Gotta start somewhere!

Post the MDR lunch and dinner menus on the app.

For the whole week on the first day of the cruise so we can figure out which days have our favorite meals.

I would like to see the $20 daily casino fee go away since they are the only line that does this.  And they call it an "administration fee", but no one can truly say what this is for!

What's this??  We are going on our first NCL cruise in October and I am completely unaware of such a thing.  Who gets charged this fee??  Is this a Player's Club thing??

Forgive my ignorance but as I said, I'm a newbie. Thanks!

Along with the current schedule for entertainment.

LOL. It's a fee that people who get their cruise comped by casino play have to pay. Not applicable to those of us who pay for our cruise.

Thanks...as I expected. However, with some of the stuff I've been seeing across cruise lines, I wanted to be sure, not sorry!

You silly dreamers. You guys are hilarious. Just give me more beef, some deep fried hash browns  and cookies. I'm all good.

Yes, but "when you wish upon the NCL Star, your dreams come true."  At least I think that's how it goes....

I wish that the late night menu at the local / O'Sheehan's included some of the old late buffet standards like cookies, or a slice of cheese pizza.

My second wish is for preferred names printed on cards.  Many people go both they second name or a shortened version of their first name or other preferred name.  If this was printed on the card it would make my experience better as the crew could use my preferred name.  I understand still having a legal name to match documents,  but I'd really like to make it easy for the crew to use my preferred name.

Or not. It's all about perspective, right?

The allergy thing was way too much for me, I wasn't a fan of getting interrogated at every meal. And I'm perfectly capable of knowing what not to eat. So no, I did not fill out the medical questionnaire. But your PCC can add comments to your reservation, whether or not those get read is debatable.

I ended up with 3 trays of strawberries on 1 trip - the CN manager asked them to send me something else (gave her the strawberries LOL). Guess what they sent. More strawberries. Took them back to the desk, got back to my room and there was another tray. Finally got some brownies.

Note - I don't really care whether or not they offered something else - I just don't like wasting them and I know I'm not the only one that won't eat them.

Not to hijack your wish, but NCL does amazing with allergies, even complex ones like mine, when I fill out the form. Yes, ordering a day ahead can be less spontaneous, but after they get my access form, I never have to go into the long list of allergens again. I just show up for dinner, tell them my cabin number and they bring what I pre-ordered.

That said, I'm shocked the butler kept bringing the strawberries despite being told of your allergy. That's dangerous.

And to keep on-topic, I'll add a new wish I thought of:

'I wish loyalty on NCL, Oceania and Regent were cross honored like they are with Royal Caribbean.'

Post #43 explains the situation quite well. I do not need special meals, just respect my wish to not bring me strawberries because they will be wasted. Note, the strawberries weren't from a butler Lol, just someone reading a request to deliver the latitude tray, not reading the part about substituting something else.

Gosh, thanks for your input. I've done quite well all by myself on all of my cruises - not a single allergic reaction because I am fully aware of my tolerance levels and what I can eat, what I can't. I said NOTHING about noting allergies on my reservation and expecting someone to follow through at meals, only that IF it had been mentioned to not give me strawberries as a latitudes perk, for whatever reason, it might not be read. Move on.

Nice, but in your post you pointed out "Some of us have allergies" as though that fact should be considered. Yet you don't notify them of the allergy via the proper procedure. IMHO, it becomes a bit of an unfair criticism on your part.

Take ownership of what you've said and recognize WHY these things happen and what you COULD do to prevent them. You have to take action, not just wish.

You mean like: We wish people would stop yelling at the bartender at the pool because winds prevented the ship from docking at XYZ port.

And stop flushing anything anything except TP in toilets

I have no wish list for NCL.  I think they are doing a good enough job with what they do.  If I want fancier, I will choose a different cruise.  If I want Broadway style shows, I will go to a land based theatre to see one.  Maybe one wish, would like to have old school disco music ( like from the 70's) and let me go back to my disco nights.  AND maybe have 1 night in the disco where it's LGBT night ( even its for 2 hours)

Yes, please. It's time to move up and starting all over again really sucks.

I'd be interested in reading NCL's wishlist for guests . . .

This was already shared by NCL last year (or was it '22?) in a quarterly report:  Increased onboard spend.  That is all they really want from the passengers.

Yes.  On my recent Princess cruise they did this and I was surprised at how often we looked at that on the app and made plans based on what was on the menu that night.

You've been around here long enough to know that's not how it works at all 😉

Sure I'll take ownership of what I WISHED for. You got all of that dribble from a simple wish that they would let people CHOOSE what they wanted instead of wasting strawberries. I'm not the only one that doesn't want them allergies or not.

I am perfectly capable of throwing away something I'm not going to eat - a very simple ACTION that I can take. I did suggest that in order to give people something they wanted it could be added to their reservation - but that they didn't always honor requests that are on the reservation, said nothing about their ability to handle allergies when people wish to take advantage of that service - although people do complain about missteps there as well.

Go bother someone else, as that seems to be you MO on CC.

But you are the only one who used allergies as an excuse. Owning what you wished for would include taking the proper steps to ensure your wishes were followed.

BTW...the word you wanted is "drivel".
