room with a view Posted August 15 #1 Share Posted August 15 Hello , We are joining the Pearl on the 6th September 2024 sailing from Trieste, flying into Marco Polo . Staying a few days before the cruise in Trieste . NCL say that they only provide airport to ship on the day of the sailing, though I'm sure that I read on a CCritic review that NCL had provided transport a few days before the sailing???. Otherwise it will be the Flexibus or a taxi . thanks for any information.
hlperez Posted August 15 #2 Share Posted August 15 You can also take the train from Maestre - short bus ride or taxi from the airport. There is also GoOpti, a shared shuttle service. Used them before and they were very good. About EUR 30 pp. You can find them online.

mapleleaves Posted August 15 #4 Share Posted August 15 If you're going to Trieste directly from the airport, Flixbus usually has a couple of departures per day that leave from VCe. That would be the easiest option if an NL option isn't available. Otherwise you can catch a cab to Mestre (40e , 20 minutes) and take the train from Mestre station. either option takes about 2 1/2hrs and cost about 20e.
room with a view Posted August 15 Author #5 Share Posted August 15 Thanks Mapleleaves ..that's probably the best option . Ncl only provide transport on the embarkation day and we want to spend time in Trieste ..thanks
yakcruiser Posted August 15 #6 Share Posted August 15 They also have a bus that runs direct from Marco Polo to Mestre train station and then it's a two hour train ride to Trieste. I spent a couple days in Trieste before a cruise last April and enjoyed it.

room with a view Posted August 16 Author #9 Share Posted August 16 Thanks to everyone for all your help ...much appreciated . We are two age 70+ and don't want to be carrying luggage between platforms at Mestre ...so Flexbus is probably the best option .
room with a view Posted August 18 Author #10 Share Posted August 18 Hello, Do the Flexbuses from Marco Polo have air-conditioning on board ? thanks ... can't see it mentioned on the website .
Brian V Posted August 18 #11 Share Posted August 18 Yes, they are air conditioned, very comfortable. The only issue we had was the signage at the airport being almost non existent - managed to find the right place though. Enjoy your trip!

Hello, How strict are Flexbus on carryon luggage ...my hand luggage is 52x40x18 cms . The carry on measurements on Flexbus website are 42x30x18cms . mapleleaves Posted August 18 #14 Share Posted August 18 You put your luggage in the hold beneath the bus. There was no luggage rack inside (like the kind you would see at the end of a train carriage). And the overhead rack was narrow, maybe big enough for a small backpack. So nowhere to put your suitcase if you bring it on board, unless you want it on your lap for 2 1/2 hrs. I only travel with a 22" case but I put it in the hold with everyone else's.
