SeaBunny Posted August 19 #1 Share Posted August 19 I understand you can not sign up for this until you are on board. Is that correct? If so, what is the process to sign up? Also, is there any port day that this activity is more likely to happen? Like the first port day maybe? Would love to heard about you experiences. Mrs. Claypool Posted August 19 #2 Share Posted August 19 When you’re on board, just go to the Seabourn Square, preferably sooner than later, and ask whether there will be a “Shopping With the Chef” during the voyage and when it will take place. You can sign up at that time. In our experience, whether or not it takes place depends on the port, the weather, the chef, etc. It may be scheduled, it may not be scheduled, and it may be canceled at the last moment. But it is a real treat if you are fortunately enough to experience it!
Mauzac Posted August 20 #3 Share Posted August 20 We love Shopping with the Chef but often miss out. We always sign up for it but often don't hear another thing, even though we ask more than once. And regularly it's the same people doing it again and again on a long cruise which does stop others having a chance to go. There are limited numbers. We have done it a couple of times over the years and it's been fascinating at the markets and seeing Chef with a wad of notes to spend!
Windstar27 Posted September 12 #4 Share Posted September 12 Has anyone gone shopping with the chef on a Canada/New England route? Did it happen in Halifax or Charlottetown? I will be on Quest in October.

We were in Halifax and Charlottetown and it was not offered there.
tv24 Posted September 13 #6 Share Posted September 13 Shopping with the Chef happens first thing in the morning, so be prepared to get up early and be ready to go. That was the deal breaker for lazy us, saldy.

cruisr Posted Tuesday at 04:15 AM #9 Share Posted Tuesday at 04:15 AM I have done about 12 of these over the years and love them. Never did any leave before 9:30 - 10:00 am. I think my favorites included Sorrento, Corfu, Rouen and Salalah, Oman. They are absolute highlights.

Are you in one of the highest three suite categories? On our last 3 cruises we have been invited to a shopping with the Chef - everyone had received a specific invitation and were in the Wintergarden/Signature /Owners and had paid full price not a paid upgrade. Later in the cruise a first come shopping was advertised in the Herald. There is a difference between the two trips. Not going into detail as often on the boards people launch into should be no difference in way treated based on accommodation booked but fail to take into account that often Wintergarden can be 5 - 6 times price of a verandah but only 3 times the price. Someone referred to Emirates First on another post: this is the same - you are not just paying for a larger space.

What did your trip entail? Not asking about locations/ different types of stalls. If it was the invitation shopping with Chef there is a very specific difference
Capri73 Posted yesterday at 12:16 AM #16 Share Posted yesterday at 12:16 AM We were on the Northern trip.We have done so many but this one was just ok still fun.
