Saint Greg's return to Jubilee - Live - August 24, 2024

I got in the pizza line. They moved it in 10 mins just cranking out cheese and pepperoni.

What I’ve been doing on this class of ship is stopping in the buffet at the end of the night to get a Pepsi and walking to my room on lido. Last time they made it tricky by turning off all of the drink stations but one at night and you never knew which one.

Guess what they’re doing now? They’re shutting them all off so now the drink station by the pizza place is tbe only one on late at night. I’m not walking back down there with this pizza then back up here.

Grab a Pepsi from the pizza guy.  Took me a bit to figure that out.  Crazy all the bars close so early except guys and casino.

Richie from South Carolina. I don’t know why I thought England. Maybe it’s the hat. He was good.

Helen was on the Freedom Transatlantic from Barcelona last year. she really meant it on getting offended in the adult comedy shows... even though almost everyone was an adult on the cruise.

Well I used to get it from the fountain. I like fountain drinks. But with no cheers I was getting lemonade. It’s preferable to not have to carry food and drinks from 8 to 16 and I never had to until today. But if I wanted to get a drink from the pizza guy it would’ve been a longer wait. I never got to the front of the line. They were just bringing plates down the line and I grabbed one.

I went back to the comedy limelight for jerseys 10pm because I know it’s going to be a different show with a different group of people.

Speaking of which....John Heald just posted of Carnival's dedication to showing both NFL and college football (all ESPN games and Sunday ticket).   This week is the opening week in NCAAF. Can you post if they're showing them on your sailing?  I'm on Pride in Sept and would like to belly up for some foots.    TIA

As the regulars know I’ve been trying to watch all of the movies in the theaters for a couple years now. Catching up is always tough. You’d be surprised how many are only in the theater for one week.

I saw all of the new ones before I went to Alaska. While I was gone four new ones came out. Then three more came out yesterday.

Since I’ve been back I saw two of the four that came out last week and two of the three that came out this week.

The two from last week I didn’t see were probably insignificant. They were only showing once a day late at night so unless I wanted to stay out past midnight Tuesday and Wednesday nights, I had to skip them. I checked their rotten tomatoes and one scored in the 60’s. The other had no rating.

I’m betting that The Crow is still in theaters when I get back next week so that’s the one I chose to postpone.

I’ve seen probably 300 movies in the theater the past couple years but I’ve never seen anything like this. Trigger warnings at the concession stand and on screen. It’s weird. I’ve seen dozens of movies that could’ve had the same warning but didn’t.

I’ll keep an eye out. As you may have learned in some of my lives having all the games is only good if they’re willing to put them on. Celebration 2022. Saints/49ers 3:35 kickoff. There were only three late games so I felt good about getting to watch the game. The game was only on 1 tv in p&a. A little tv over a table. And at 5pm they wanted to kick me out for dinner service. I could go to the bar or hero’s but the game wasn’t on any of those TVs and the bartenders said they couldn’t change the channels. I basically told them they’d have to get security to drag me away from that TV. I finished the game there with families eating dinner around me. It’s not always exactly what they sell you.

We had a rough start last night but it ended good. I went to bed 12:30. Almost immediately door slam! Just when I’m about to fall asleep, another door slam. I finally get to sleep and 1am my cabin phone rings. Loud as hell. This has to be an emergency so my blood pressure is up. I answer “hello?” Nothing. “Hello?” On the other end I hear someone who I don’t think has English as a first language say “who?” I hang up and go back to sleep.

After that it was good I slept 7 straight hours. First door slam 8:35am.

I had a detailed cruise dream last night. I was on this cruise that basically went nowhere. And there was nothing to do on the ship. You were basically stuck in an inside cabin and the only way out was to buy excursions. But the excursions basically went nowhere and did nothing. You got on a boat from the boat kind of like a glacier explorer but you didn’t go to anything of significance. It was a…nothing cruise.

I've done a Panama Canal transit on the Miracle (2019) from Tampa to LA, a 13-day cruise with only three ports (not counting the PC day).  Older demographic - check.  I think we had less than 20 under the age of 18 on our sailing. Fewer lines for certain things were very noticeable.  Make sure you plan accordingly when sailing through the locks.  You will want to see more, and people gather early to get good seating.  It also takes much longer than expected to make it through all of the locks; we miss the tail end of the locks to get dinner.  Journey cruises generally have a throwback evening, so watch the schedule for that.  Overall, it was a very relaxing cruise with a lot of downtime to catch up on sleep.

Thanks for the information.  Sounds perfect.

If this estimate is as accurate as the less than 10 minute dinner wait, this could be 2-2 1/2 hours. But they close brunch at noon these days..which makes me dispute the unch part of it…because unch typically happens at noon. It doesn’t end at noon. So they’ll probably try to get me in before that.
