To be fair, I don't believe there was ever any 'official news' that EES would up and running in November for those not already subject to the process.

The UK government stated it would be - https://www.gov.uk/guidance/eu-entryexit-system

Various EU country governments said it would be, for example - https://www.government.nl/topics/holidays-and-travels/ees

And the EU Commisioner, Ylva Johansson, said it would be - https://www.telegraph.co.uk/travel/advice/new-eu-entry-exit-visa-system-rules/

I stand corrected.  Whoever approved the release from the NL government must be feeling a bit boob-like right now.  At least the UK government advisory contained just enough weasel words (plans to AND no exact date) to allow for a change of plan.

As it is a EU system the UK need to rely on EU I formation. It seems the weasel words were justified.

Sure.  In my opinion, the real 'story' here was the amount of angst, anxiety and discussion that took place following the less than totally reliable revelation that the implementation of EES was imminent.

Cruise ships present an interesting challenge to the implementation….I became interested in this topic when the rollout was scheduled for Nov 10….assuming our ship cleared Greek customs on the 8th when we docked in Corfu, then proceeding to Mykonos on the 10th and finally disembarking in Athens then on to the airport to catch my direct flight home to Canada…..wondered how this new process might affect my departure….a few posts back I became content that there would be some allowance to prevent airports to become overwhelmed and allow passengers to make their flights…that being the priority…..we shall see….I’m hoping things will be delayed enough for us to get out of Dodge with just the usual airport hassles…..
