It is accurate according to my experience with almost 50 Princess cruises. Check in will probably open around 9:30 to 10:00. Boarding will begin around 10:30 to 11:00 with priority boarders then all others. Once boarding begins it goes quickly. The process is just a matter of walking through the gangplank and scanning your medallion. It's as quick as the slowest person/group walks. In my experience passing through security is the slowest link in the process. That is done as you enter the terminal, not as you board. FWIW, on two of our recent Princess cruises, (LA last year and Boston last month) there was no priority boarding, no PES pre-boarding lounge etc. Everyone was herded into a huge waiting area and the only way one could get "priority" boarding was to know exactly where boarding started and try to sit as close as possible to that entrance to the gangways. Fortunately we weren't booking the Sanctuary on those trips so we had no need to get on board early. The odd thing about San Pedro not having priority boarding is that in the past they DID have priority boarding, no idea why they didn't on that particular sailing. We did board particularly early that time, so it's possible they dispense with Priority and the waiting lounge if they know passengers will get on board early

Has PCL done away with priority boarding for Platinum level? I've just printed their latest Captain's Circle loyalty benefits info sheet, and it no longer mentions priority embarkation or debarkation for Platinum level - only Elite. And for Elite it only mentions priority disembarkation. Our last PCL cruise was about a year and a half ago, and priority embark/debark was still available to Platinum level. Have 2 PCL cruises coming up soon, so I'm just wondering.

It varies by port for sure, Port Everglades and San Pedro usually have them set up, but in the last few years there have been a few instances where they didn't bother to set it up, possibly because they knew boarding was to be relatively early.

About 10 days before sailing you should have a boarding pass on your app which give the time period to board but there will be no separate times. As a rule the last boarding is usually 90 minutes before sailing from a US port On 9/5/2024 at 8:24 PM, sultan_sfo said: I agree with all the above posts -- "boarding" (not check-in) usually starts around 11 AM. If you really wish to see a boarding time, a Boarding Pass (not needed for boarding) becomes available on the APP about 10 days before sail date and it gives a boarding time -- for my Sep 14 cruise the Pass says Boarding 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM. We're sailing from San Francisco next week, my Boarding Pass has just become available, it shows check in from 11am to 3pm, which seems late as we sail at 4pm. Crusin Karen Posted September 14 #30 Share Posted September 14 Really quick. I’m sailing today out of red hook. I planned to be there about 10:30. I just checked my Princess website thing. Said boarding time 12:30. If I get there early I’ll still get on right before 12:30 right? TIA
