Hmmm....wonder if a Grateful Dead comes in under $20.  Could be my "free first drink" on our next cruise.

I always thought they had a limit on the cost of that drink, did they remove that limitation?

"Free First Drink" has a price limit, too (In my experience on Valor in July. They made my glass of wine "free" and charged us $14.50 for my husband's Manhattan.... though his was the "free drink")

They just changed the maximum to $16, plus gratuity.

Online still shows $20, where did you hear that from?

CHEERS! INCLUDES:

  • All spirits (including cocktails), as well as beer and wine by the glass with a $20.00 or lower menu price
  • Sodas, Zero-Proof frozen cocktails, energy drinks, specialty coffee, hot tea, 500ml bottled water and other non-alcoholic bottled beverages
  • Packaged water in the Dining Room and Specialty Restaurants
  • 25% discount off the menu price for any spirit or wine by the glass above $20.00
  • 25% discount off the menu price for wine and champagne by the bottle
  • 25% discount off beverage seminars and classes

The question I was replying to was about the free first drink, not Cheers.

We dont have to get it at brunch anymore?

The complimentary drink for Gold and higher VIFP members on Carnival Cruise Line cruises of five or more days is automatically applied to the first transaction once onboard. The drink can be redeemed at any venue and can be a specialty coffee, soda, or alcoholic beverage up to $16 plus 18% gratuity.

Carnival finally got with the times and changed it so it is now the first drink of the cruise.  Just have to make sure and remember so you don't use it for something small and regret it later on.
