Rare Lois R Posted March 29, 2006 #1 Share Posted March 29, 2006 :) Seems we have some new Princess Cruisers amongst us....sorry you had to cancel the cruise were you supposed to be on...but hoping you LOVE Celebrity as much as MOST of regulars do;) I have never sailed Princess so I can't comment (first hand) on the product they provide. I know they do have their loyalists, (just like every line) but I hope you will enjoy your Celebrity experience!!! Welcome aboard:D

BrooklynGirl2 Posted March 29, 2006 #3 Share Posted March 29, 2006 Great idea Lois. Welcome to all Princess cruisers who are trying Celebrity. We believe you will be pleased with your experience. I have also never sailed Princess but my dh used to work for them years ago on the Island Princess (before Carnival). It does seem like these 2 cruise lines have some similarities but also some differences. So...if you have any questions or concerns please ask. We are all happy to share any information or experiences that would be helpful to you and we hope you all find a happy second home here with us.:)

mii Posted March 29, 2006 #5 Share Posted March 29, 2006 Now that is an extremely nice gesture Lois. I am a very loyal Princess fan, but I did try Celebrity last June to Alaska and am going on the Constellation this Oct. to Canada/New England cruise. I am still a Princess fan through and through but I do like Celebrity also.. The last week I have spent alot of time naturally on the Princess Board and even though I was not affected by the Star Princess I naturally had to read all about it. There has been a great thread over there called "Technical Fire Discussion" which alot of cruisers who are from all of the lines have joined together to discuss the techical aspects of the fire. These people are fireman, we have on that is a Batallion Chief of a fire department, sea crewman, etc. That basically has been the only thread that has not had any bashers regarding smoking, throwing cigarettes over the rail. etc and I think we all have had those discussions on every cruiseline, but the host have been right on top of it and some threads have been sent to the heavens. Thank God. Anyway Lois and you others thank you for very much for the welcome. Marilyn

newmexicoNita Posted March 29, 2006 #7 Share Posted March 29, 2006 Every cruise line will welcome them I am sure as they seem to be pretty well devided between Celebrity, RCI and NCL right now. NMNIta
Rare Lois R Posted March 29, 2006 Author #8 Share Posted March 29, 2006 Hi Marilyn:) no bashing from me! And lets hope we can stay civil here;) I have never sailed Princess but have heard many things about it. I have friends who have sailed both X and Princess and they like both lines. I tried HAL once and came back to X right away. So, I am almost afraid to try something new again, even though some people might say that is silly. I know whenever I sail Celebrity I feel like I have come home again...it is a great feeling. Hi Sea:D
CruiseFever Posted March 29, 2006 #9 Share Posted March 29, 2006 What a nice thought! I bet they find Celebrity quite to their liking....I know I did! That there are so many knowledgable members on this board willing to share their experience makes it all the better
CaribbeanBound Posted March 29, 2006 #10 Share Posted March 29, 2006 For curiosity, which Celebrity ships and dates (besides Millennium 4/16 - Eastern Caribbean) are Star passengers booked on?
Rare Lois R Posted March 29, 2006 Author #11 Share Posted March 29, 2006 Hi, I think some of them are going on Century 4/2, and maybe 4-9. Not 100% sure but...I do know I saw 4/2 on a couple of threads.
GramaFran Posted March 29, 2006 #12 Share Posted March 29, 2006 Having taken my 1st Princess cruise on Star last Oct. and have cruised on Celebrity 2 times before I know the Princess cruiser will love X too So welcome aboard and enjoy your new experiences with X. Sorry about the cancellations of your cruises I know you were heart sick when you were planning your cruise vacation to have the plans sacked at the last minute. I know I would be devastated but I would be like you all have done and changed to another cruise line. Welcome aboard princess cruisers, Francine

Rare Lois R Posted March 30, 2006 Author #15 Share Posted March 30, 2006 Hi again,:) maybe I misread the post...but I am not sure Leslie is in the Penthouse Suite. That would be the largest cabin on the ship..is that your cabin Leslie?:D can I sneak in with you?;) Or did you mean you are on the Penthouse Deck...in a Concierge Class cabin? IF CC class, you do get special ammenities but I don't think they are "Penthouse Suite" Ammenities.

(He is getting married on the ship Sunday at 1:00 right before we embark). Question - we are located on the Pentouse - concierge level. what extras does that mean. Thanks for the input. If it like the Zenith you will get a bottle of sparking wine in your cabin on embarkation day plus canapes each night. They are nothing to write home about but a nice little touch. You will also get fresh fruit basket and flowers in your cabin. I think the best thing was the very nice tote bag with zipper that we got toward the end of the cruise. Our granddaughter got married on the ship in December. The wedding coordinators did a wonderful job. There were 21 of us that sailed and about 50 at the wedding. I don't know what you paid extra for CC level. We got a great deal and thought it was really worth it, but if we would have paid $100 more person I am not sure. Congrat to your on and have a wonderful cruise, I know you will. NMNita
poetic license Posted March 30, 2006 #18 Share Posted March 30, 2006 SunLeslie, Congratulations on your SON'S wedding. We love CENTURY ... it is the ship that hooked us on cruising, and is our favorite. We'll be taking it again on the April transatlantic, and again in October for the westbound transatlantic ... got to make up those lost hours, you know. ;) I hope you receive the same warm welcome from the crew on CENTURY that we always receive, and I know you will feel spoiled by the end of your cruise. I am so sorry your plans were thrown into a tizzy by the fire. All of wish our Princess friends the best and hope they have cruise experiences that exceed their expectations. I am confidant CENTURY can live up to that. Feel free to ask if you have any questions about the ship or Celebrity in general. Cheers~ Nicki
rienreiter Posted March 30, 2006 #19 Share Posted March 30, 2006 Hello to all of you Celebrity fans: That is such a nice gesture for Lois and all of you to welcome Princess fans to Celebrity. I am aware that there are many individuals who were scheduled to sail on the Star Princess trans-atlantic of April 30th and have switched to the Constellation of April 28th. I'll let them know about this thread. As for myself, I have only sailed on Princess and Royal Caribbean. I will be on the Constellation trans-atlantic of April 28th and will also be on the Baltic cruise out of Dover on May 20th (also Constellation). So, two weeks after I get off in Dover on May 6th, I will be flying back to the UK to board her again for the 14-day Baltic cruise. I am sailing alone for the trans-atlantic so I have a standard ocean view cabin. However, for the Baltic, we are booked on a Celebrity Suite so we are really looking forward to not only the Celebrity experience but also the suite experience with the butler. Not bad for two Celebrity cruises in a month, huh? Now for my question. On both Princess and Royal Caribbean, I normally wear dress slacks and long sleeve dress shirts on the informal/smart casual nights. There has never been an issue as this is how most people dress. Will this be OK on Celebrity? Or are they really strict about only allowing gents in the dining room who are wearing a jacket and tie? I want to have an idea as to how much I have to pack for each one of these cruises. Many thanks in advance to all of you nice Celebrity folks. I am really looking forward to the Celebrity experience as so many talk so highly of Celebrity. There is no way that so many of you could be wrong. Thanks & Regards,

Rare Host Anne Posted March 30, 2006 #21 Share Posted March 30, 2006 Welcome all ~ great to have you giving Celebrity a try. I'm very sorry that your cruise plans had to be changed, but I'm happy to hear that you are still able to cruise. We sail both Celebrity and Princess regularly and enjoy both lines. I think, as others have mentioned, that you will enjoy Celebrity a great deal. Don't hesitate to ask any questions over here. There are many who are more than happy to help. And be sure to come back and let us know how your cruise experience was on Celebrity. Safe travels and Bon Voyage! And Lois, a big thanks for your kind gesture in starting this thread! Rare Lois R Posted March 30, 2006 Author #22 Share Posted March 30, 2006 We moved over from Star Princess April 9 to Century April 9, and are looking forward to trying something new. Thanks for the welcome!! Bien, I was almost going to be on your cruise....my plans changed to go on Zenith instead. What I want to let you know is there is nice Roll Call going on over on the Roll Call forum for your sailing. I am friends with Lisa from your roll call.....she has sailed X too and will be glad to help you out as well. Pop over there and say hi to your cruisemates:D and tell her hello from me! -------------------------------------------------------- And for the poster who was asking about the dress code, They do request men to wear jackets on informal nights.... but I don't think you will be turned away in a dress shirt and tie. This question is always a "hot topic"........lets hope we can keep it civil for you:) Maybe a few of the men can reply...or their wives;)
biensur Posted March 30, 2006 #23 Share Posted March 30, 2006 Thanks Anne and Lois. The thread for our sailing seems quite chatty and I was intrigued to see that Celebrity and Cruise Critic are linked through Connections. I had not heard of this before, and as fellow cruisers on the thread recommended I sign up for the party (which grabbed my immediate attention), I am now registered as is brother, SIL and DH. Is this a cocktail party/ meet mingle? Any suggestions other then 'show up" at the time? Is the date/time/location published in (and pardon my ignorance on he name of the ship's daily) the "Patter"? Hi, you "should" get an invitation in your cabin with time, date and location for the "gathering"....although lately I have heard where pax didn't get one and missed it. Look for an invitation, if it is not there I would go to Guest Relations. On a 7 day Caribbean cruise (the ones I have taken)...the get together was held on the first sea day (which is usually the 2nd full day) and the time varies. Mine have been held in the 10:30am---11:30am range. In order for you to have this party "Officially" you have to have a 25 people minimum sign up. Of course there are times you may not get that but you can always have a party on your own! When it is the one through X, they usually offer coffee, tea, danish, etc. If you want an adult beverage, that is extra. It is casual for sure...mid to late morning I am usually in shorts and top or bathing suit and cover up. Anyway, it is really a nice way to meet others from your roll call!:)
Antyo Posted March 30, 2006 #25 Share Posted March 30, 2006 Thanks everyone for the welcome...We were due to sail on the 4/16 Star:( ... and we are now on to "Plan B". Celebrity sounds like a truly wonderful cruise line. However, I need some friendly advice before I book: My TA is holding a quad balcony cabin for us (category 2B) on the Millenium for the 4/16 voyage. I will be cruising with my mother, my daughter and her friend (both 15). I am wondering if anyone can give me some information on the teen programs. We sailed the Carib. Princess last year, so that is all I have to compare it to. After reading these boards, I have no doubt that my mother and I will have an incredible time (pamper me PLEASE! and show me to the casino;) !) My concern is for the teenagers. Is this ship "teen freindly". Can anyone give me any information about the teen programs? Thanks so much and I hope to see you all on board on the 16th! - Anty (a very hopeful future Celebrity cruiser!):D
