Is there nightlife on the Infinity?

We are seasoned cruisers with RCI and have dabbled in a few other lines, including Celebrity with a short trip on the Millenium several years back.

I have a large group joining me in Alaska 8/07 and are waiting for me to select the ship/itinerary. It is between the Infinty and the Serenade, both comparable itineraries.

Celebrity Regional Sales Rep is courting my group through my travel agent and making some nice offers. But I need opinions as to life on the Infinity. Is there a decent evening activity schedule? Multiple music choices for dancing? Adult type games/contests?

This group consists of folks 30-50 years of age. Possibly a few kids but not a significant number. (Is there a kids program?)

Appreciate the advice of the experts here.

Smooth Sailings All.

Hi..I will try and help. I am 48 and Infinity is one of the ships

I have not sailed. But I have been on 2 of her sister ships...SUMMIT

and CONSTELLATION.

Summit to Mexican Riveria and Connie to Southern Caribbean.

I have yet to sail to Alaska but it is on the list:)

As for activities, I have only been on one Royal Ship and that

was a 3 nighter on Soveriegn back in 2003. So that is not a good

comparison for you.

Nightlife on X has always been fine for me. I can tell you that from

reading many things on many boards, most people would probably

tell you if you want "ALL NIGHT LONG" stuff, Celebrity might not

be for you.

They are clearly my cruiseline of choice so I can only tell you

things from my previous 8 experiences.

There is Karoke on 1 or 2 evenings. There is also the House

Band for dancing most evenings.

The service and crew on my sailings have always been outstanding.

But I am not one of those folks who is "activity driven".

I always have late seating for dinner and don't mind chatting with

good tablemates while closing down the dining room:D.

I am happy with a drink in one of the lounges or...if one of the

shows is something I enjoy I will go there sometimes too.

Oh yes, there are shows in the evenings as well!

And of course the Casino is always there.

Hope this helps you a bit......I love the product X provides.

Glad I could help...you asked about games...none in the evenings

that I recall.

Laid back would be a good term. Some people say boring;) I am not

one of them. Then again, relaxing and being pampered for 7 days

is definitely not boring to me:D

I have sailed almost exclusively on Celebrity M-Class ships. I have always found the night life enjoyable and varied. I will be sailing Infinity to Alaska in two weeks so will be able to give you some feed back after my trip. Generally I have found that the night life is often different depending on the itiniary and the PAX mix. Our last Alaska Cruise was really dead at night. Most of the guests were in bed by 10:00 (this was on Mercury).

Choosin, Exactly what are you looking for? I have the daily programs and would be happy to check them over for you if you give me some direction for searching.

Sandy, that is a very generous and highly appreciated offer.

Having not been on X in several years and been loyal to RCI (preferably Radiance class ships which is most comparable to Millenium class) I am most familiar with evening activities such as a main headline show or production show, additional "game show" type activity involving the Cruise Director, Karoake, sing along piano bar, late night buffets that include demonstrations such as ice carving.

Pretty much any variety that I can promote to my group to get them to consider X.

I am NOT a TA, but generally act as social director for my group of friends. X has a bit of a rep of being quiet at night so it may be a tough sell so I really am grateful for any knowledge you can share.

In my search, it looks like I threw the Infinity programs away. I did find the Millennium programs and here are a few things going on (at least last year); computer classes, 5 minute makeovers, battle of the sexes trivia, wine & food pairing, mastering the art of mixology, bridge play, chess get together, dominoes, pomerania quartet play the classics, not so new newly wed game, bacardi rum tasting, acupuncture at sea lecture, 50's & 60's sock hop. These are a few but nothing there that would make me want to definitely sail Infinity. There was a great guitar player on our recent cruise which was nice to listen to, very relaxing. The Cosmos was filled with action late night, many, many people dancing. The ship has a great layout and service is great. Hope some of this helps.

Hi, sorry I misunderstood your first question. The activites Sandy

mentioned are during the day. I thought you were asking specifically

about nightlife.

There are always things during the daytime:) trivia is offered

every day.

The games and such....are all daytime.

I don't recall anything like that on any of my cruises in the evenings.

The sockhop yes, but games no.

Choosin Cruisin,

Maybe I can help. I am VERY familiar with Celebrity on both "laid back" itineraries such as Alaska and Transatlantics and more "wilder" cruisers such as Caribbean sailings. I am also familiar with RCCL ships (I have sailed Radiance and Navigator (just a few months ago).

If you want a ship with LIVELY sing alongs, exuberant guests and "better" lounge acts, you must choose RCCL. Now do not get me wrong. Celebrity is my FAVORITE line (I cruise on RCCL to go with my girlfriends when we want to party and let our hair down). I go with my husband on Celebrity because I want to relax, enjoy the quietness, the food and the great service.

As an example: We love to gamble - mostly blackjack. On the X ships, the Casino is crowded but we can usually get a seat without a problem. We go to bed by 10 or 11. The dealers are SUPER friendly and you can get to know them. They do say that by midnight the place is dead. On the other hand, in January (Navigator), the casino was PACKED! I was there till 2PM and when I left the place was HOPPING! And the people were - (how shall I put this) - Bouncing off the walls (me too). It was just a different atmosphere.

In one of the piano lounges on X, they had some people dancing, but mostly they were just sitting and watching. On Navigator, they had a piano player that did a WILD sing along with feather boas he handed out and EVERYONE participated.

My husband and I love trivia. There are usually 2 trivias a day on X. There was NO trivia on Navigator. (TONS mor other things)

You have to know your group. I would never take my girlfriends on an X cruise. My husband and I would only go on an RCCL cruise as a 2nd or third choice.

Alaska has so much to see "off" the ship. I bet either line you choose will be great.

Best of luck choosing.

Ok..we all got mixed up a bit:eek: I have a habit of doing that....

but I didn't want the OP to think all sorts of trivia and games are

happening in the evenings...because as we both know,

they aren't.....

Daytime yep, evenings nope!

All the info is helpful, but now I'm back to leaning towards RCCL. I have sailed Alaska during July with the 22 hours of daylight and found it tough to go to bed before midnight or so. I want the group to have some options as some of them will be rookie cruisers. I'll wait and let the prices have some bearing on the final decision.

Thanks all and if you have more info keep it coming please!

We just did Infintity Hawaii, 14 days RT San Diego in Nov 2005.

As far as general activities go... I would say there was more than enough for every interest from free throws and ping-pong for DH, to Trivia and Name That Tune for me.

As for nightlife, I think if you have a group.... you are set. There is always nightlife offered, but you have to take advantage of it!!! The disco was always open, but sometime rather empty.... But if you had a group, you could have an almost private party and have a great time.
