Roberta, actually yes I was surprised when we pulled just before 5:00am and all these neon lights and lazer strobes...just too funny!Last night was a great night onboard. Two Australian ladies and myself went for cocktails in the Casino Bar for couple of drinks and we were late leaving Vladivostok due to being caught in ship maneouvres that were taking place just before we threw the lines. We then proceeded to the Sterling Steak House for dinner. I had ordered the Ceasar salad and a 10 ounce Filet Mignon which was cooked just right Med-Rare as I like it. I had ordered as well a 1998 Brunello di Montalccino which was velcety smooth. We finished dinner around 9:30pm and the ladies and I went our seperate ways. We agreed that we had such a good time that we will all have dinner again in Sabatini's on the evening that we leave Shanghai which is an amazing view going up the river to leave the city.I went to the "office" last night and did fairly well for the amount time I had to spend. Drank a little more than I usually do but every now and then it's not bad for the soul. Will write more later today while we are at sea.Tony

Hi Tony,

Heres how the world sees you today.

Pacific Princess is my favourite ship as well.I have had 50 nights on board

..........

And we were right there with you for most of them. Hi David! I decided to jump in here with my 82 Pacific days; sort of makes me eligible, huh? This is still my very favorite ship.

Thanks for all your messages. I am enjoying reading every word. I had not heard about the additional $25 shipboard credit after 20 cruises. I wonder if that is new Elite perk?

Fuzzy...no apperently it is not new and I only found out by accident. So now when you check-in go to the Purser's desk to see if it has been applied to your shipboard account if you have completed 20 cruises and more. As Arlene would say....FREE + FREE = FREE!

Ive only had experience with a standard Princess Balcony cabin on the Star Princess.

Pacific Princess (Renaissance Class) obviously not built to Princess specifications ,balcony cabins have as a basic a lounge/settee.This represents value within the Princess Fleet when booking a balcony cabin.

Otherwise for extra comfort one has to book a Mini on most Princesses other ships.

We enjoy the peace of the cabin and to have the extra comfort for a standard Balcony Cabin is good value.

I would be interested in your thoughts re the above and the Pacific Princess cabin comfort.

Thruthfully I am too cheap to pay for a Mini-Suite! However, on longer sailings it would be much better to have one for the extra space and closets and tub and shower combination alone. I am currently in a Balcony Cabin CAT BD and was upgraded from a CAT F. The cabins in D to GG are mostly the same as a balcony minus the balcony space. I find myself, I don't use the Balcony however you feel les closterphobic because being able to go out onto it...gives the apperance of the room being bigger...you also get a refridgerator as well in Balcony Cabins and Mini-suites some of the little +'s you don't get in an outside cabin.

It states in the brochure and on the Princess website that on inside and ocean view they have a refrigerator in the room....So they don't have fridges?

Tony if you do a search on Pacific Princess you will see that not alot is written about on board facilities etc.Somewhat more on Tahitian Princess.

Thats probably because for some of the year she cruises out of Sydney and Australians that do cruise know little about CruiseCritic and other boards.Remember there are only 20 Million of us.

Again let me say Thank You on your postings re life on board and what the ship has to offer.

We'll another lazy day at sea today before we arrive in Pusan, South Korea tomorrow. I didn't do much in terms of any activities today, however I did manage to make it on the treadmill in the gym for an hour burning off the liquid calories from last night. Today's themed lunch in the Panorama Buffet was French....they rwally put on a great spread...especially the desserts. I had creme brule and gateau St-Honore...just to die for!

There was a cruise critic gathering at 2:45pm in the Casino Bar but I did not attend and instead had a siesta which was much needed.

Tonight I went to Sabatini's the Italian Trattoria on Deck 10 for an exquisite meal. It took all of 2.5 hours to go through all the courses coffee and desert. We had a great bottle of Pinot Grigio, Santa Margerita 2004, very light, dry and fruity in taste.

As you can see it was nothing but a food day today. Tonights show was Shake Rattle and Roll 50's and 60's themed broadway show followed by a sock hop in the Pacific Lounge after 10:00pm.

The seas this evening have been very rough, although Pacific Princess is handling herself quite well considering the swells. The Captain has forecasted the same for all night and overnight until we arrive at 8:00am in Pusan tomorrow morning.

That is it for today folks...

The above title is certainly my favorite, as Tony previously quoted. Yes, the $25 extra credit started showing up when Elite status was initiated (I believe Spring, 2004).

As for the fridge query, the only cabins that had them on the Pacific were the minis and full suites. Last year they refitted the balcony cabins with refrigerators, but I don't think they gave them to the insides/outsides. Another thing about minis - if you can manage the $$$ aspect, get it! The difference in space between a balcony and a mini on this ship is HUGE!

Tony....your daily menus are going to make me gain weight. :)

Anyone know what the $50 pp Shipboard credit - "Thank you from Princess" - is all about???

We got this :D on our last cruise ...........

It was our 31st ..............

The $25 Elite 'present' is only per CABIN??

The $50 'present' was Per Person :p

Anyway - Who cares. Free is Free and more is BETTER ! :D

Tony, Have fun shopping in Pusan, cheap, cheap, cheap......... (Unless you're going sightseeing ?

Renee.....the $25 Elite SBC was PP. Why did you get $50/PP? Now I'm . I wonder if #31 was the magic that did it. We're only at 24, but #25 thru 30 (as you know) are already booked.

As for shopping in Pusan, the only thing Tony will want there is a Starbucks mug. Guaranteed!

Arlene I do hope will have you on board one of my cruises one day you seem by your written word to have such a good sense of humour:) Arlene I have booked a CC which states it is a larger size for my journey of 34 days

Tony & Arlene I rang Princess today regarding the Fridges the lady even went off the line and double checked this but they do have fridges in all the staterooms.....she then looked up my cabin triple checking and stated yes which is great news for everyone considering booking this ship:)

Thanks so much for your interesting postings. We leave on the PP on August 1 out of Beijing. This will be our first time on the Pacific and only our second cruise with Princess - we just can't wait.

I am checking in several times a day just to get your latest insights. Loving every minute of it - thanks again.

Carol

We are also wondering about a fridge in the room as we are in an outside cabin.

Kruisey I am suprised you would not know this because they used to have them back in the day . Not poking fun of your age . It is a dance .

Yes have done alot of dancing from Country Dancing,Scottish dancing ,Ballroom Dancing,Rock&Roll a great favourite of mine:) ....but cannot remember a 'Sock Hop'...Maybe its because I didnot come to Canada till aged 34....and that was the period before I arrived.

Doug I can assure you Princess told me all cabins now have fridges on Pacific Princess:)

"sock hops" were a big deal in the US during the 50s and 60s.

Thats the reason....I was born 1936:eek: Gee I am old.

Didnot arrive in Canada till 1968...so maybe 'The Sock Hop' was just going out of fashion....I remember the daft 'Chicken Dance' new to me when I arrived on these shores:D
