GAUCHOS? Are they in or out?

Forgive my Aussie ignorance, what are gauchos? Can someone post a picture please:)

Well, I'm going to wade in here. I'm approaching 60, so I've been around for a number of the trends. Gauchos, culottes, palazzo pants and I love them all. They are pants that look like skirts. I don't care for the new trend of hip-hugger waistline. I prefer a normal waistline. But that's not just in gauchos, I don't care for hip hugger jeans or skirts either. And I never gave a thought as to whether I should wear them or not. If I like something, I wear it. If someone else doesn't like the way I look, they can look elsewhere. Some of my old ones were cotton and not as comfortable as todays matte jersey. I bought three pair for my upcoming New England/Canada cruise, I'm hoping it's chilly so I can wear them with knee high suede boots somewhere on the East Coast. So if you like them, and think you look good in them, wear them.:p
