Galaxy concierge level a disappointment

We just returned from the 11 day Easterm Mediterranean cruise. We bumped up to the concierge level, due to unavailable verandahs on regular floors. We found out that this was the first week for this itinerary after the winter in the Carribean. Many of the staff was new. Our concierge staff was not well trained for this level. We had better staff attendants on a regular port hole room. We did not get any discount on our room, but I feel we were discounted on service.

On a positive note, the food was great. We did not attend dining room for any formal nights. We attended the Oasis Cafe for dinner for reserved casual dinner. The menu and food was great. The attention of the servers was top notch.

We choose CC for our Dec cruise on the Zenith last year and were disappointed. For us the cost really wasn't much more, but had we paid more I would really have been ticked. We did get the champange upon arrival which was nice and the tote bag toward the end which really was great, but other than that; it was certainly not like other lines we have cruised with CC service. We got appitizers each night: mostly repeats and certainly not very good; we never saw the Concierge and just were not impressed at all. NMNita

Hi janines, could you elaborate, we have a CC booked for our August cruise. Also what tours did you do in Istanbul and Kusadasi. Any info appreciated. Thanks.

We just returned from the same trip. We had a privately arranged tour guide and he was fantastic for our two days in Istanbul and Ephesus. I have his card in our luggage and will look it up. He was so good that he had been picked to escort Jimmy Carter years ago... Excellent command of English. Our tour had 12 passengers. and cost about $50 per person per day

Galaxy concierge level a disappointment

We found the weather and ports of call great. The food and service was inferior to all of our previous Celebrity sailings. If you thought it was great you will be in for a real treat if you sail on other Celebrity ships. It was a great cruise for us but not because of Celebrity.

I guess I am missing the point on this. What was your expectation of Conceirge versus a Suite versus a balcony? You do get the champagne and evening snacks but you don't get a butler or do you tip a butler like in a Suite. The towels and robes are nicer but still not a show stopper. I would not bother with CC unless the price was close to a regular balcony. If you want the extra treatment then you might be happier in a Suite. If you can't afford a Suite but want something a bit nicer than a balcony then you might enjoy CC.

We were lucky enough to have CC class on our last 2 cruises, both on Infinity. Back in Feb. we were very happy with CC class, but this last May we were not so impressed. Some of the things were missing from the stateroom, our room sterward was lacking in areas. We always had to ask for things. You'd think in CC class would wouldn't have these little problems. I think one of the above posters was right, CC class is nice, but not worth more than $50 to $100 per cabin. Unless of course you can get one of the Aft cabins on Millie class.

Are the formal nights the sea days? janines what was the state of the cabin in terms of wear and tear etc, and which cabin were you in?Thanks.

I would be interested to hear your views on the guest speakers and the t-pool while on the Galaxy. Did either of you save your daileys(sp?)? Any info that you can provide will be appreciated. Thank you.
