Ok, I'm a little freaked out!

Well I was surfing around, checking out the HAL charters, and I know nudists do charters, so I read the FAQ at a website. Frankly, I’m a little disturbed, and I’m an easy going guy. All I’m saying is it freaks me out that the contact of body parts that can (and do) emit certain bodily fluids , are in DIRECT contact with things like the theater /showroom and casino chairs and whatever else. Now I’m VERY liberal, and have no problem with a nude cruise, but underwear does serve a purpose.

Do you think they cover the chairs on those cruises? How crazy am I?

Here’s the link I read:

Greg,

I've wondered the same thing. Can you imagine what they tell their families and friends about these cruises? This doesn't do much towards fostering global understanding. :D No wonder other countries and cultures think the West is immoral and decadent.

From their FAQ:

Is the entire Cruise Ship Clothing Optional? When do I need to be clothed?

Onboard most of our ships there are only three situations that require clothing: 1. While docked in port, 2. In the main dining room and 3. At the Captain's Gala Cocktail Party. While in port and in the dining room, casual attire such as shorts and T-shirts are fine, but no lingerie or fetish wear, please. Otherwise, you may be nude throughout the ship morning, noon and night.

Well ... I was about to say "thank God they're not eating Nekked ... but, then, I realized, the Lido and the Pinnacle are not included in their restrictions. YIKES!!!!!!

What about the photographers!? What are THEY doing?? And WHAT do they do with the unwanted photos? And, NO, I don't want to see any.

On June 27th there was a thread "Ms Amsterdam Alaska Nude Cruise 2007". If you read reply #47 all your questions are answered in a very straightforward and mature manner.

(I would have cut and posted the reply, but I couldn't figure out how to do it)

Dang it ... who wants to be mature about this? I'm having too much fun being puerile and sophomoric while also being prudish.

Thank you, I did just read that post, and thankfully it said that nudist etiquette is to use a towel on the bare bottom. Whew,,,,has anyone gone over a ship afterwards with one of those body fluid blacklight detectors?

C'mon you guys, get a grip. Do some research and learn a little about nudism and most of your "fears" will be put to rest. Nudists always use towels to sit on when they're naked, so don't worry about "juices" contaminating public spaces. Good grief! Like the crew doesn't clean the ship on a regular basis. Nudism is lovely and how nice that they've got a beautiful HAL ship to enjoy it on.

Hey lawyerrose, lighten up dude, I am doing research by posting a question here, and it was answered. This is a public forum for learning about other people, you don't need to get rude.

I believe lawyerrose was just trying to remind people to be a little more tolerant of their fellow man, that's not being rude. Simply an opinion on the idea of "freaking out". As I have read, u4ea's OP about chairs and such has been answered in that a conscientous nudist would NEVER sit on anything without some form of covering between them and the furniture. As for the "decadent western world", nudism came to North America from Europe!! Remember, our original settlers were Puritans, leaving Europe because IT had become too liberal. Everybody has their own opinion on just about everything in their lives. This forum just gives everyone the opportunity to post questions and answers concerning all aspects of cruising, whether it happens to jive with any particular person's ideas should never be the measuring the stick of it's merit.

Whew.....soapbox nosebleed!! :D :D

Sorry RevNeal, I thought that I might be the first one to reply, but it took me so long to find the original post and the exact reply. So now I just look like a wet blanket!

Naw ... don't worry about it. I'm just having fun on a boring Thursday. :)

I enjoyed reading the other thread ... and, yes, nearly every question I had has been answered.

My guess is you would find equal amounts of "miscellaneous fluids" following a "regular" cruise.

Oh, wait. This is a HAL board? :D Nevermind.

**shakes head** How did I get here?????

Thank you, Sexy. First of all, I'm not a "dude." Second of all, I can't believe that poster would think my post was "rude." Yeah, nudism started in Germany, so it's not a decadent western thing at all. And it's not decadent in the first place. It's too bad there's still so many people who find the idea of people enjoying their bodies in their natural form so offensive. It seemed beyond ridiculous that someone would sincerely worry about germs or juices, etc. on the ship simply because it had been chartered by nudists. Just the way it hit me and my lowly opinion. As a gay nudist, I'm a little touchy regarding intolerance and judgmental.

Ok, ok, I’m getting taken way wrong. It’s hard on the web to differentiate being rude for standing up for what you believe in.!!!!!! I have no problem with any of this!!!!!!.I AM VERY TOLORANT. I guess I’m not articulating myself well enough. I know body fluids are everywhere, esp on the ship, that’s how noro virus is spread. I would just prefer that I didn’t know about it. Do you all know what I meant about that blacklight? They find body fluids everywhere. I’m just saying it bugs me A LITTLE, NOT A LOT.

Apologies for bad comments.

Isn't that a relative judgement? I mean ... our HAL ship's staff friends from Indonesia certainly view anything European as being "western." And, within the precepts of Islamic culture -- as well as according to the predominate Roman Catholic culture of the Philippines, from whence comes the HAL beverage and front office staff -- public nudity is not considered a virtue. Indeed, and especially in this case, I would venture to suggest that "decadence" is in the eye of the beholder.

I understand your concerns. However, perhaps a little more patience is warranted? After all, nudism is not something that is predominate in our society, and "proper nudist etiquette" is not something with which most of us are familiar. Just because some of us (most of us?) are uncomfortable with, or otherwise unaccustomed to the nudist's expression -- and we make jokes to cover up that discomfort and uncertainty, and ask questions to help ameliorate our concerns -- doesn't mean that we are "offended" that people want to "do their thing" on a chartered cruise. We have expressed concerns about those who work for the line whose cultures and predominate religions are diametrically opposed to the expression, and we have asked questions -- out of ignorance, concern, and curiosity -- about how certain things are done on such cruises. Please don't jump down our throats for that. After all, the OP was trying to LEARN; at least have some regard for that desire.

As for those of us who enjoyed a little sophomoric humor ... that comes with the territory and the subject matter, so get your feathers down. It doesn't mean we hate you, object to you, or are offended by you. At least, I'm not. I just don't have any interest in joining your cruise experience while, nevertheless, wishing you well on it.
