Question for recent Celebrity Cruisers

Probably not. We were just on the Zenith. They let us board at noon but you can't go to your cabin until 1:00PM. We went to the buffet for lunch and then they made an announcement that guests could proceed to their cabins.

Sailed 6/17 from Bayonne to Bermuda on the Zenith-Boarded as we arrived, about 1 PM and we escorted to our cabin with a glass of champagne. My first Celbrity Cruise after a few with Princess. Have booked the Century Mediterranean Cruise for 9/2 Very happy with Celebrity

Hi: depends I think on how soon you board. Dh and I like to get on as soon as possible but now and then we have arrived at our boarding time later and always been escorted.

Have always had a glass of champs though irrespective of when we embarked!

Very much depends when you board, Even if you board before the cabins are ready they tell you if you wish to return to the "welcome area" after the announcement that cabins are ready and they will escort you. Even though DH knows the way to the cabin blindfold as we have had the same one 3 times now he always returns to be escorted (tip and you usually get another drink :) )

We were on the recent Infinity Cruise & no, we were not escorted to our cabin. When we stepped foot on the ship, people were too angry to even care. Many of us had just spent 8 hours in a convention hall waiting to embark on our "floating hotel."

Hoping your cruise is better than ours!

Boarding sometimes starts before noon, but the cabins won't be ready until 1 pm or 1:30 pm. If you board before the cabins are ready, there won't be an escort because you're not supposed to go to your cabin. They tell you however that you are very welcome to go back to the boarding area to pick up your escort and champagne as soon as the announcement 'cabins ready' is made.

Sometimes we have been escorted, sometimes not. However, if you wish to be escorted there are always plenty of crew members around to ask and they are usually more than happy to oblige.

My group boarded Mercury well after 1pm, were given our half glass of sparkling wine, squirted with hand sanitizer, etc. We simply were never offered an escort to the cabin.

Its funny but recently there was a post from someone on the same cruise who rather sarcastically said that after everything they endured they got on the ship and were offered the escort and given the champagne.

On boarding the Constellation at Bayonne for our transatlantic crossing this past April, crew members immediately greeted my wife & me with a warm welcome, served us champagne/orange juice from a tray, & offered to escort us to our stateroom. All quite civilized!

However, I chuckled to myself when the steward escorting us became slightly confused about the location of the stateroom--I knew it was on the port side, but he took us along the starboard passageway and became embarrassed when he couldn't find it.

I told him, in a cheerful tone, "I think you'll find we should be on the port side of the ship.":) He apologized profusely for his mistake, & then I led the way to our stateroom. My wife & I later laughed about the fact that I seemed to know my way around the ship better than that particular crew member even though I'd never set foot on the Connie before & we'd only been on board for three minutes. It was a happy start to a very happy voyage.

Crew members who escort are often those who work "behind the scenes ' and are not always familiar with passenger areas/cabin location. We had the same experience once. It was funny!
