I'll start -

1. What is the one thing that shouldn't be missed?

2. What is the one food/drink that should be tried? (end of October)

3. What is the one purchase that should be made?

4. What is the one thing that you think should be known about Antigua?

Thanks - Jan

1. which beach resort for the day...Jolly Harbor Beach or Pine apple? and why?

2. Do you offer island tours?

3. How far away is the devil bridge to Jolly Harbor Beach?

4. The best drink to order?

5. The absolute best beach to see?

All the info you could offer would be great. We will be arriving on the AOS May 3 or 4th. Thank you for the help.

1. What is the one thing that shouldn't be missed? - Antigua has rich colonial history (was once the British Naval Head Quaters in the caribbean so you don't want to miss out on English Harbour, the forts there have some spectacular views.) Nelson's Dockyard is a must at English Harbour, its a lovely ship yard village with tons to see. You need to take a trip through Fig Tree Drive to see the rainforest and coast line, many beautiful 4&5 star hotels, every corner is a photo stop. and ofcourse u need to stop at a beach, antigua was voted best beach destination in the world by the voters at expedia.co.uk (man i sound like a brochure don't I?) there are many beaches but my faves are:Jolly Beach, Turner's Beach, Friars beach (this one is gorgeous and hidden away) & Hawks Bill beach.

2. What is the one food/drink that should be tried? (end of October) try grilled caribbean lobster at turner's beach, if you are lucky enough u should try to get a hold of some 'Fungi & Steam Fish' Fungi is made from custard & spices made into a kind of dough. its best with steamed snapper fish, its spicy stuff!!

3. What is the one purchase that should be made? forget the corny t shirts, caps and mugs, look for some local carvings. you can get the most interest shapes carved out of coconuts and local dead wood, ask around for those kinds of souviners. they really remind u of the caribbean when u look at them.

4. What is the one thing that you think should be known about Antigua? one thing?hmmm....its really really hot. no seriously I believe the sun shines here stronger than anywhere else i've been. you will need lots of water and for christ sakes! no turtled neck sweaters or cardigans. :D

oh yeah, Devil's Bridge is about an hour away from Jolly Harbour. Advice: Devil's Bridge is a natural rock formation on the Atlantic side of the island, it has cool water spouts when the waves come in, but i would not make a trip just to Devil's Bridge and back. Its more worth it if you do a tour that goes to DB as a photo stop.

When I first started checking into Antiguia for our cruise in Jan. I heard alot about the paddles of antigua on the boards and now I don't herar anything. We heard about a snake that is being reintroduced to the Island? They were called Racer's. Any information would be welcome.:D

Hmm, Antigua guy you have a lot of good tips, but i think you need to speak to someone originally from the island to learn more about the food. I think you are maybe thinking of duccana (http://www.antigua-barbuda.org/press133.htm)

Fungi is made from cornmeal, okra and water. All good though. Its after dinner and all this talk of food is making me hungry again.

Check out the newest sports bar in heritage quay (footsteps from your docking site on NCL) called the BEE HIVE, its right under the clock tower in the middle of the quay, you can't miss it. Or try the King's Casino right next to the bee hive or Cheers sports bar right infront of the bee hive. everything in one neat package.
