Also are there any canadians whom have done this before? results? thanks Hi,:) when using Priceline you bid by zone and you don't find out what hotel you are staying at until after your bid is accepted. So, if there is a specific place you want to stay, Priceline would not be the way to go.
joejoe4fun Posted May 1, 2007 #131 Share Posted May 1, 2007  Whats the secret ? I just tried $65 and got nothing. You sure its not the Caribe Cockroach u got and not the Hilton as you requested ? LOL That seems incredibly low...and we are staying the same night as you  Hi, just got the same night for the Caribe Hilton last week for 65 per night, you may want to try again. However, I am still trying for 2 nights for post cruise, and have had no luck, so I think it may be all about timing. Good Luck.
Rare Lois R Posted May 6, 2007 #132 Share Posted May 6, 2007 Hi, I am sailing March 7, 2008. My bid for 100.00 was just accepted.:) I had checked 3star San Juan and got Sheraton in Old Suan for March 6th for one night. I am very happy with result:) I know exactly where the hotel is located and now just have to get airfare:eek:....right now those prices are outrageous. Hopefully as the year goes by maybe some of them will come down. Anyway, Sheraton 100.00 24.29 taxes and fees ----------------- 124.29.
CanadaDJ Posted May 6, 2007 #133 Share Posted May 6, 2007 Greetings All; I have been trying on priceline but after my first couple of bids over the last week it does not allow me to make a bid without adding another zone or Star level. In fact I started with resorts then added 3+ star - it automatically ticked boutique (heck I dont even know what a boutique hotel is). How can ?I just keep the same selected things but increase my bids. thanks p.s. also is there another site like "priceline" out there?
CanadaDJ Posted May 6, 2007 #134 Share Posted May 6, 2007 Where would I find a list of the hotels with the ratings? Which hotels are the 3+ or even the 2+ . . . you know what I mean. Thanks
Rare Lois R Posted May 6, 2007 #135 Share Posted May 6, 2007 Hi, there is Hotwire but you don't bid on that site. They show you some prices and what *** the site gives it. If you want it, you pay what they are offering but you don't find out what hotel it is until after you give them the payment. As for adding zones on Priceline, I didn't do that part. I just waited a few days and checked 3Stars again in San Juan. I did increase my bid this morning and they accepted it.:)
CanadaDJ Posted May 6, 2007 #136 Share Posted May 6, 2007 As someone who has never been to San Juan - when I am selecting areas to bid on is there another location besides San Juan that I should be selecting (Dorado or Ponce . . ie) thanks once again Ron

I have been to San Juan 3 or 4 times on different cruises but this is the first time I am staying there pre-cruise. I know Condado is supposed to be ok but don't want to mislead you since I have not stayed there before. When are you cruising? Like I said, I tried last week. and it didn't accept my bid so I just waited a few days. Maybe someone else can give you better advice. Good luck with your search:)

Bidding San Juan will give you Old San Juan ,Conando and the Isla Verde area. I bid priceline all of the time if you only want resort you can only bid once every 24 hours. I just got The El San Juan Hotel and Casino for a pre-cruise night stay in Sept. Pricing seems to be all over thee place depending on when you go. I've read where people get the Carib Hilton with a $75 bid. I had to go up to $140 to get mine , they also charge fees and these hotels have a resort charge of $20. If you have any other questions I'll try to answer the best I can.

I just got back from San Juan, and stayed at the Caribe Hilton. The grounds are very nice. The rooms are a bit older, but my room was very clean. For th3 $65 that I paid, I would stay there again in a heartbeat. Friends of mine stayed at the Comfort Inn for $129 (i think), and they were very disappointed. roszel Posted May 8, 2007 #140 Share Posted May 8, 2007 Has anyone gotten a room in San Juan for May 27th through Priceline? I have been trying for five or six weeks. Are all the hotels sold out because it is Memorial Day weekend?
lucyddr Posted May 9, 2007 #141 Share Posted May 9, 2007 I too had the automatic "check" for a Boutique hotel when I checked "resort." Unfortunately, I bid before I realized this was happening and won the bid! (After months of periodic checking hoping to get the Sheraton.) I bid $110 and won the San Juan Water and Beach Club Hotel. It gets mixed reviews, and I wish I had read the site more carefully. We'll see how it turns out... (The good news is that we will only be there for 1 night and we saved $100 on the cost as compared to the night at the Sheraton OSJ.)
jaycor Posted May 19, 2007 #142 Share Posted May 19, 2007 We had to fly into San Juan early in Jan this year because a storm was coming/-So we had no hotel We called hotwire directly by phone when we arrived around 2:00pm from outside the holiday inn which was going for 235.00 a night and asked for a 3 star and got the Sheridan in old San Juan for 135.00-great spot so you can book a hotel from them up till 8:00 pm on the night you arrive. We were happy with the price and may not book a hotel till we arrive when we go in Jan 2008 We had bookrd the Westin Rio Mar which goes for 400.00 a night for 129.00 through hotwire for 4 nights before our cruise ast the same time. Meshee Posted May 27, 2007 #145 Share Posted May 27, 2007 When using priceline, is there a place where you can specify a room type? I have 2 young children and would like a room with 2 double beds. Or do you just call the hotel after your bid has been won and ask for a room with 2 double beds? Has anyone done this and have you had any problems? I would also take down the name of the person you talk to so you have some backup. There is no guarantee on the website about beds.
JXR Posted May 27, 2007 #147 Share Posted May 27, 2007 The granting of specific types of rooms is totally at the discretionnary of the hotel. Most hotels will grant it, but you never know. joanne

Thanks This far in advance only bid once a week. You will frustrate yourself bidding more often. My biggest recommendation? Book a cancellable backup hotel while you keep bidding on priceline. In other words, find a hotel and a price you can live with in case priceline never accepts your bid.

As was posted, PL doesn't guarantee for more than two adults in the room. That is why we are not using PL for our one night in November. If it were me, I would look more closely at using hotwire since they allow you to enter the number of adults and children. It will probably cost more than PL but still less than the normal rates and you are guaranteed enough room for all four.
amorkcc Posted June 8, 2007 #150 Share Posted June 8, 2007 Bids of $65, $70, and $75 all rejected for resort level in San Juan on Priceline for August 11th. Anyone have any luck for August dates yet? Am I simply too late?
