Cell phones and internet access

Cell phones will not work on the ship unless you are in proximity to land. While ashore they will work depending on where your are and your carrier. We have Verizon and our cell phones worked in San Juan, Nassau and St. Thomas with no extra charges.

They forgot to build cell towers in the middle of the ocean/s, so your cell phone will not work onboard when you're out at sea! They will usually work in US territories like San Juan and St. Thomas/John, abut it really depends on your cell plan.

Costa cruises have the relay thing that allow some cell phones to have service while at sea, but the only carrier that it worked for was a European company. Supposedly it will work with my DH's new Sprint PCS phone next cruise. We shall see
