Hiya,

 

I don't know which is "better", but I can tell you our experience. We did bus then rail, and were a bit disappointed. The bus was fabulous! But apparently all the narration on the rail goes on during the trip up, so by the time we boarded for the trip down, it was over. If I were going to do it again (I'm not), I'd reverse it and do the rail up and the bus back. :)

Are you thinking of doing this with Chilkoot Charters? Their rail-first excursions depart at 7:30 and noon.

I also give an edge to the train first, bus second, with this sequence, sit on the left side on each.

I e-mailed Chilkoot Charters for the price of their 3.5 rail/bus excursion in 2007, and it will be $109/adult and $69/kids. I believe tax is added to that.
