XSNOBS...say it to Jack!!

So often in a forum such as this it's easy to find fault with what this cruise line (Celebrity) does...well fair is fair and I'm sure Jack has a bad day now and again, I think there's a place to tell him and new cruisers what we really LIKE about this line and what we would miss most if it were changed.

:D I very much like the fact that the crew in European based (or at least European styled)...I like their quiet professional (not warm and fuzzy) approach to serving. I prefer to entertained by the entertainers and served by the servers. I have found my waiters, busboys and bar staff to be highly skilled, happy and accommadating to a fault.

And as silly as it sounds, I would really hate to see the chilled towels go, the water that is served by the pool and the parade of sorbet! I get a kick out of these little extras.

Also, the way the entire crew speak to passengers, say good morning, afternoon, whatever and always seem to genuinely care if we are happy.

I like the overall understated experience. The elegant interiors - no excessive use of brass, glass, neon. The beautiful and varied artwork throughout the ship. The understated and professional service. The aqua spa on the M Class ships. The Spa Cafe (excellent). Being escorted to my stateroom on embarkation. Minimal public announcements. The list could go on and on. Celebrity suits us to a T.

I love being handed a glass of bubbly and escorted to my room.

I love the way the waiters take your tray at breakfast and lunch and carry it to the table for you, and then come back to check on you, offering coffee or other drinks.

I love the understated elegance and decor of the ships.

I love the effeciency of embarkation and debarkation.

I love not being bothered by messages on the loudspeaker in the cabins.

I love the smiles and greetings that the staff always have for you when you pass them in the halls.

I love the cleanliness of the ships.

I love the layout and design of the public areas.

I'm sure I have many more, but these are what popped into my mind at the moment. I love Celebrity Cruises!!! :D :D :D

They are called Assistant Waiter. I'm sure that they would be happy and even

more accomadating, if would all remember that. (sounds less condescending) :D

That is the title Celebrity uses. :)

In addition to all the things mentioned by previous posters, we enjoy the "dress codes" and hope they will continue to do more to publicize and enforce the expected dress (perhaps educating travel agents or publicizing this aspect more conspicuously somehow in online agencies.) The more people who conform to the standard of elegance the easier it will be to maintain this standard and educate new cruisers.

Also, it would help to find and early published order of evening dress in order to help plan one's activities.

When did you mean? Before cruising or while on board?

They do tell you the night before, on board. :)

I love many things about Celebrity including all of the things already mentioned. In addition I love that MOST passengers follow the dress codes more so than other cruise lines I have sailed on. While it won't ruin my cruise if they don't, it enhances the over all cruise experience for me.

I love Celebrity because they always make us feel special. No matter what deck you are on . balcony or not you are treated like this cruise was made just for you. I love the champagne and the escort to your room upon embarkation. I love the way the waiters are dressed even in the buffet area. I love that they carry your tray for you. I love when they offer me more coffee in the morning. I love their pastries. I have gained many a pound on them. I love the Cova Cafe. I love the fact that they have good cognac, my husband and I really like that before we retire for the night. I love that Celebrity is understated, very few annoucements. I love the people who sail Celebrity. We have made many good friends from our cruises. Pat

I also love everything that has already been mentioned above. Not sure what else to add. I do love the Speciality Restaurants on the M Class Ships. They are spectactular.

As for the dress codes, I just got my Travel Documents yesterday for Bermuda. It states very clearly how many formal, casual and informal nights there will be on a cruise, and it also states what to pack. It's titled "Packing Smart."

Why don't people just read their cruise documents???????? (Sorry to go off topic.)

I agree with all of the above. I like the crew and the service that Celebrity offers; it's great when the staff cares enough to learn your name. I like the price range that allows me to cruise several times a year. I like aft balconies. I like specialty restaurants.

In addition, I love the bedding and towels in Concierge Class, and the little touches there like fresh fruit and flowers in cabin, daily canapes, expanded room service breakfast.

Celebrity staff ARE NOT spunky..."I hate spunky" (Lou Grant). A smile and a sincere, look me in the eye, "good morning" and I'm happy. Good service is not about entertaining the client, it's about giving the client good service!!

Celebrity has figured this out...many, many, restaurants, retail stores, etc. have not.

Garry...

We have this thing in Canada now at restaurants "Hi my name is Perky and I'll be your server for the evening"...a heartfelt scripted line.

or

In a department store "Did you find everything you were looking for"...No, here's my list I'll be back in an hour!!

Drives me to distraction....:D

Dan, I assure you, it's not just in Canada. Here in the South we have the same thing. I'll be shopping in a department store and a salesperson will come up and ask me if I've found everything I wanted. If I had found everything, I wouldn't be shopping! Don't start me on annoying things!

Now, getting back to Celebrity--nothing annoys me about them (except they make me get off of their ships)!!!:D

Yes, I know that they publish the evening dress code in the "daily" which is placed in one's cabin the night before. Also, there is often a posted dress code order for the when on embarkation day. When I mentioned that it would be nice to know the order of evening dress ahead of time I meant several months (or at least ONE month) ahead as it helps me when looking at shore excursions or planning activities for the day. For example, I know they don't USUALLY schedule a formal night when the ship is scheduled for a long day in port, but on a port-intensive longer cruise, sometimes it can't be helped. I do like to pre-purchase some shore excursions, or book my own arrangements, but on the day of a formal night (or even an informal), I might not want to schedule a late afternoon snorkling trip ifI had early dinner seating, or to make reservations to have dinner in port that evening if the ship doesn't leave port untill 10:00PM. Or, if there is something we really don't want to miss during the day, we may want to just plan to skip the dining room and have dinner served in our room, which would save having to pack the extra clothing for that evening, but I'd like to know ahead what type of outfit to omit.

We prefer to schedule (before boarding) an evening in the specialty rest. on a casual night as it gives us an extra opportunity to dress up a bit more for dinner, but can't count on the scedule except for first and last night as casual dinner dress.

It may sound like over-the top planning to some, but I plan ahead before we go so I can relax once we're there! :)

My wife and I will be taking our first cruise on Celebrity Infinity on 9/5/04. We booked it more for the itnerary and dates than our knowledge of the line reputation. Aside from what we read on the various boards, we had no idea of what to expect from them. This will be our third cruise; our last cruise was on Carnival Paradise two years ago and prior to that (many years ago) with Commodore Boheme. To be frank, we had a good time on both trips but after hearing all of your comments, we are really looking forward to our trip with Celebrity. You all make this particular line sound great. Thanks for all of the positive stuff to look forward to. Hope to run into some of you folks on a cruise someday, maybe in September.
