OBC What if we don't spend it all?

We have a rather generous on board credit for our upcoming cruise. This is probably unusual, but we spend very little while on board and I am sure we will not use the whole credit. We prefer to do our own thing with excursions, don't drink or gamble and usually tip by cash. Are we able to get the balance in cash or do we just lose it??

Thanks

The easiest way to deal with this is to take cash out in the casino. You don't have to actually gamble with it, but at least take it and walk over to a table or slot machine and ACT like you are going to gamble. Or go ahead and actually drop a few quarters into the machine.

Other than that, I *think* that they WILL refund the difference at the end. Someone else is sure to chime in and support or deny that. :)

That's a good idea.

Not sure about the refund either.

But why not live a little...buy yourself a few photos....go to the specialty restaurants...play bingo...

You might have some additional fun.

This did NOT happen on RCI, but on the QM2 we ended up with a credit and had both shpboard credit from the cruiseline and also shipboard credit which we purchased ourselves and Cunard did NOT want to give us a refund stating that it was their portion that was unspent. We got the money back but why take a chance, I would also suggest either spending it or taking the cash out of the casino

We were on the Enchantment a couple of weeks ago with a "generous OBC". The last night we stopped by the pursers desk, had them pull up the balance of our remaining credit then asked for a cash refund, which they immediately took care of. Don't worry, you won't lose it.

Hi reney 313,

Re/ the OBC, in our case we had booked a 4 day on the Sovereign out of Pt. Canaveral as we only live about 2 hours away. RCCL called us on the Friday before we were to leave on the following Monday. Said the Sovereign was overbooked by one cabin and asked if we would consider moving to the Enchantment for a 5 day out of Pt. Everglades (about a 4/5 hour drive for us). In return for the inconvience they offered to refund half the price we had paid plus a nice OBC. It only took about 30 seconds to make that decision!! We are Platinum C&A members but don't know if that had anything to do with it. Suspect they were looking for Florida residents who didn't need airline tickets.

Great deal, Tanker. I agree with your suspicions. ;)

Hey....How do I get a "Generous OBC". I want one of those...and considering the amount we spend "on board", I'm sure finding a way to use it won't be too difficult ;)

I'm just a tad jealous....

Don't be jealous. We got one once, and in our experience we had a really BAD experience on the last cruise. Don't think I'd go on Navigator again to be honest. Ours was pretty large as well, and we used it to treat ourselves to the specialty restaurants 5 out of 7 nights!

I agree that that is a good idea to take it out as "cash" at the casino, better safe than sorry. And then that way you can use th4e cash to pay for your outside excursions, or buy something extra special in the shops.

OR.. can they use it to upgrade at the pier?? Now that would be a fun thing!
