Gift in cabin..different for Gold then Plat?

Recommended Posts

So this upcoming cruise on AOS will be our first official PLAT cruise. wondering if the gift you get in your state room will be the same or different from the gift a returning GOLD member gets. Anyone know? Don't you think they shoud be different, or is that just me?

The gift is the same regardless if you are Gold, Platinum, Diamond or Diamond +.

There are other perks that you get as Platinum over gold, such as balcony discounts, better coupons etc., so I think it is fine that the gifts are the same.

Im platinum also. If I want to get a discount on a balcony do I have to book directly with Royal Caribbean. I usually use a different online travel agency but then they wouldnt know about my platinum level.

NO, you do not have to book with RCCL yourself. You tell your TA your RCCL Crown and Anchor number. The TA should let RCCL know it when your cruise is booked and that you want your discount. ;)

Here is what you will receive.

Platinum Balcony discount is,

$50 for 3-5 nights

$100 for 6-8 nights

$200 for 9 nights or above

That is per cabin, not per person. ;)

Diamond Balcony discount is,

$100 for 3-5 nights

$200 for 6-8 nights

$300 for 9 nights or above

That is per cabin, not per person. ;)

I recently received the leather-ette picture frame and it is definately in the 'its the thought that counts' category of gift. I do appreciate RCI effort, but, did see many of the frames on the housekeeping carts on my way off of the ship in Miami. Seems they get recycled on a regular basis. I appreciate the effort that RCI is putting forth. The other GOLD member coupons were nice: the free cover at Jonny Rocket's, where I had the hottest food served of anywhere on the the ship, $2.00 in the casino, and the $5.00 free in the internet cafe were nice gestures.

You need to make sure that your TA will allow you to use your C&A discount before you book. It will reduce their commission amount so I actually had one tell me no. There was a $50 cancellation fee but I got $150 off my cruise so I switched TAs. Bottom line: Ask questions before giving them your money. Ask about C&A coupons, RC Visa certs, etc. too.

I used an online TA to book my November Liberty cruise. I asked them once about my discount and they blew me off, but I don't think they understood the question. The second time I asked, once I knew what the actual discount was, I recevied an e-mail with an updated price, showing the $100 discount. Might be better off calling the, than e-mailing the way I did.

After I booked a balcony with an online TA, I later called the cruise line and they gave me the $100 credit to my credit card, even if the TA liked it or not.

Seems to me that the TA should know I'm a Platinum when they contact the cruise line and give them our C&A number and request the extra $100 discount for me. The TA never mentioned it, I found out about it later on the RCCL website. Obviously, they don't want their commission reduced so they would rather me unknowingly pay the extra $100 so they can get their extra $10.

Other times, I've used a RCCL coupon say for $125 and the TA would only give me $112 off, so I don't use them again. Their commission is not my problem, RCCL offered me a $125 discount, that's what I expect to get. Lie if you have to on the original fare, don't nickle and dime me later. I tell them I have the coupon up front when I ask for a fare quote. They should then quote the fare accordingly and take into account the coupon.

I have never seen the bag.. although I have amassed quite the collection of waist packs!

Out TA has never once balked at coupons or any other discount. She has even gone as far as to order us one of those Romance Packages when it was our honeymoon..we got champagne, flowers, and strawberries! Lisa is GREAT!

As best as I can figure....

the toiletry bags were the 2nd half of 2004/1st half of 2005 gift

canvas bags were 2nd 1/2 2005/1st 1/2 2006 gifts

picture frames were 2nd 1/2 2006/1st 1/2 2007 gifts :)

That is probably about right. We got the toiletry bags on Voyager (5/04) and the embroidered canvas bags on Mariner (7/05), Jewel (4/06), and Navigator (6/06).

What size of picture does the picture frame hold? I'll bring a couple from home to make our room more homey. Then I can leave them there for the next people to see us. Also we have a couple of pictures that we purchased from the ship and are having a heck of a time to find a fram for them. I think they are 4X8 and really don't know what to do with them. Maybe the gift frame will hold them.
