RDMOREU Posted August 3, 2004 #1 Share Posted August 3, 2004 Does HAL provide Splenda packages for sweetening? If not, what do they offer? Thanks for your response.
jhannah Posted August 3, 2004 #2 Share Posted August 3, 2004 Good question. I hope they do. Any recent cruisers remember seeing the little yellow packets alongside the white, brown, pink and blue ones?
doone Posted August 3, 2004 #3 Share Posted August 3, 2004 As of last March, no Splenda was not offered. They do, however, offer sweet n low and Equal, along with sugar.
Krazy Kruizers Posted August 3, 2004 #4 Share Posted August 3, 2004 :) I have been on several different HAL ships and have seen only the Sweet N Low and Equal. No Splenda. :)
sail7seas Posted August 3, 2004 #5 Share Posted August 3, 2004 I am positively, absolutely sure that on our recent Maasdam cruise, they had Splenda, Sweet 'n Low and Equal.....the yellow, the pink and the blue packets.
gizmo Posted August 3, 2004 #6 Share Posted August 3, 2004 I have never seen Splenda either but I have seen Sweet and Low and Equal.
localady Posted August 3, 2004 #7 Share Posted August 3, 2004 Yes, I am happy to report that the Ryndam also had Splenda.:) I noticed as my DH gets severe headaches with the aspartame (sp?) based sweetners, and Splenda seems to be a good sugar substitute for him.
sail7seas Posted August 3, 2004 #8 Share Posted August 3, 2004 I have never seen Splenda either but I have seen Sweet and Low and Equal. Cruise Maasdam and you will.......:) They had a huge bowl of it at the iced tea/iced water/coffee station in Lido....along with a bowl of the pink stuff and the blue stuff. RDMOREU Posted August 3, 2004 Author #9 Share Posted August 3, 2004 Thank you, everyone, for your responses. We'll be on the Westerdam in Nov.; perhaps, I'll bring some packets -- as long as having little pkts of white 'powder' won't get me in trouble LOL!!! sheephugs Posted August 3, 2004 #10 Share Posted August 3, 2004 They didn't have them on the Zuiderdam in June & I did bring my own bag of the stuff. No trouble going through security & the waiter was very interested in them...maybe if enough people request it, they'll stock it.:)
sail7seas Posted August 3, 2004 #11 Share Posted August 3, 2004 Seems it is appearing on the ships one by one....probably testing to see how much of it is used; how many people want it before they bring it to all the ships. Or.....it just hasn't been ordered by some of the Chefs( and F & B's ) when they make out their huge order sheets.
ore-ee-gun Posted August 4, 2004 #12 Share Posted August 4, 2004 We were on board Amsterdam in June/July, and they did have Splenda - it was readily available in the Lido, but we had to ask for it in the dining room. :)
ron46936 Posted August 4, 2004 #13 Share Posted August 4, 2004 On the Noordam in March they had Splenda in the Lido for part of the cruise. I normally carry my own along with my favorite non-fat French Vanilla creamer.
Navy_Chief Posted August 4, 2004 #14 Share Posted August 4, 2004 Seeing my wife likes it, I'll pack some for her just in case. At any rate, she'll want some for her coffee while in Athens the 10 days prior to getting on the ship.
kelelmel Posted August 29, 2004 #15 Share Posted August 29, 2004 I was wondering if anyone knew whether Splenda was available on the Zuiderdam?
spcl4cs_gal Posted August 29, 2004 #16 Share Posted August 29, 2004 I was wondering if anyone knew whether Splenda was available on the Zuiderdam? They have pink, blue, yellow, white and brown packets of sweetener on the Z.
Kabana Posted September 6, 2004 #17 Share Posted September 6, 2004 just an FYI, I take splenda tablets with me when I travel, I order them from a online pharmacy in australia http://www.nationalpharmacies.com.au/
CruisinNana Posted September 6, 2004 #18 Share Posted September 6, 2004 Splenda was definitely on the Maasdam August 21. Hope it will be on the Oosterdam in November, but I am really hoping we will have an Eastern Caribbean to sail to after the next hurricane does her thing!!!!! Oh me, oh my, I don't ever remember being so worried about those islands.
AuntieBon Posted September 6, 2004 #19 Share Posted September 6, 2004 just an FYI, I take splenda tablets with me when I travel, I order them from a online pharmacy in australia http://www.nationalpharmacies.com.au/ Never seen Splenda in tablet form and just curious is it only sold in Pharmacys in Australia? I know it comes in liquid form in Canada but not in US. I've never seen in tablet form but it would be nice to carry in my purse.
cruzbums Posted September 6, 2004 #20 Share Posted September 6, 2004 Just returned from the Oosterdam on Sat. Splenda and Equal were both available.
gliles Posted September 6, 2004 #21 Share Posted September 6, 2004 I don't use any of that stuff since I like my coffee and tea unsweetened but I did buy some Spenda to make cranberry sauce for Thanksgiving once (don't try it at home!) anyway, Spenda is much more expensive than the others, isn't it? I know it comes in liquid form in Canada but not in US. I've never seen in tablet form but it would be nice to carry in my purse. it is only available in the us in packet or bulk powder for consumers (there are some small outfits that sell liquid in the us), I have no idea what other countries sell the tablets but the link I gave is cheap and the shipping is fast for airmail. I like the tablets to carry in my purse but it is nice to know that the westerdam will have packets for our march cruise.
