All Things Mariner Of The Seas

We ordered room service 3 times through the TV. That was on our cruise in December......we are still waiting for it to be delivered. The good news that every time we called they said "it will be there any minute." So every morning I wake up expecting my coffee and Bagel..:(

At that rate, I'll just go to the Promenade Cafe! ;)

Where can a good cup of coffee be found?

Can one get a latte or frappacinno anywhere?

You can get a latte or frappacinno at the cafe. As far as a good cup of coffee. Well the best I had was in the DR. The stuff they had at cafe was strong to say the least. And I am one who likes it strong. Couldn't tell you about the coffee from room service it never made it to the cabin.

Am I right to assume that coffee is free but lattes and frappachinos are not?

While on Voyager next week, I plan to book a Mexican Riviera cruise on Mariner for February or March of next year. I am thinking about booking an aft D-1 and would like recommendations. Can anyone tell me pros and cons?

This is a great site to see aft cabins http://www.romain-moisescot.com/voyagerclass/virtualtour/aft/aftFR.html

People either love the aft cabins or hate them. We had 1688 on the Mariner and loved it. The cabin is more square than a normal D1 and is about the size of a JS. Had lots of room to get around even with the sofabed made up. The cabin has the infamous pole at the foot of the bed that wasn't a problem for us. Balcony had a beam going down the middle which bothers some, wasn't an issue with us. Balcony was large enough for 3 chaise lounges, 2 chairs and 2 little tables. We liked it so much, we booked it again for this June.

It is really a personal preference. The walk aft is long but it is very quiet with no hallway traffic. Good luck with your choice.:)

Don't know if this has been asked yet...

For anyone that has been in a cabin on deck 10 under the Solarium pool.. Can you hear much noise from the pool?

And if you do hear noise, is it at all hours or just mainly during the day?

Going on this beauty of a ship (if its anything like NOS) Feb 17th, next month. A few weeks back pulled and ACL ligament in my knee, so to say the least, recovery is long, not real stable on it. I will be unable to use the ladder to get in and out of the main pool for fear of knee cap dislocating, ewwww, ouch. Is there a walk in ramp or gradual slope to the pool? I don't wanna use any mechanical lifts (i'll just sit and watch the others), lol. Sure hope someone has some good news on this.

Hello all,

Ok, we are going on the Mar. 9th cruise. There are 4 of us, my husband and I and our two kids, son (15) and daughter (10). So far we haven't booked our excursions yet. Ive been on 2 other cruises, but have always gone through the ship excursions. Im trying to be brave and go out on our own with another tour company (YIKES). Have any of you done the Snuba at Grand Cayman? Was it through the ship or on your own with another company?

Thanks,

Lake Powell

Lake Powell, we are thrilled that you are coming on this cruise with your teenage children. We have two 9th graders, one turning 16 on the cruise and one in the 8th grade. I have been searching the boards for months looking for other families with older children. I was starting to get worried that there were only going to be college students on board. We really are not booking excursions. We are doing the beach thing most of the time with wave runners and such.:D

Can someone who has been on the Mariner's western itinerary in the summer tell me if there was a time difference in Ocho Rios, Grand Cayman and Cozumel?

From what I understand you stay on the ship's time which is EST but will the local time be one hour earlier in all three of these ports?

I am trying to plan my own excursions and I keep getting conflicting information, making it a little scary to plan excursions on my own.

I know that grand cayman and Ochio Rios are the same but I am not sure about Mexico. I want to say they are an hour behind. However, the excursion companies all know the ship times and they will make sure you are back in time.

Thanks Ron.

That's what it looks like according to past compasses I have looked at but a shore excursion co. told me that all 3 are one hour behind.

I am just as worried about planning an excursion too early or to late vs. making it back to the ship on time.

I'm not sure what excursion company you are booking with but most will ask what ship you will be on. As far as too early they will know what time you will be in port. Trust me they won't leave without you. On our Ochio Rios excursion we were over an hour late and Marva was still there. They want your money...and your word of mouth advertisement. You'll be fine. Have a GREAT trip!!!

Sadly, (at least for us on the East Coast) RCCL is moving the Mariner of the Seas to the West Coast. I have been trying to find out if there is a replacement at Port Canaveral, but no luck. Sent e-mail to RCCL, no answer except that Monarch of the Seas will be moving in to replace Sovereign of the Seas. Does anyone know what RCCL is planning for Port Canaveral?
