mpk Posted April 17, 2004 #1 Share Posted April 17, 2004 I'm an extreme salmon fan, been for over a decade. After a trip to Seattle once, I hand carried Copper River salmon back home to grill. It was expensive and then the dry ice packing stuff pushed it way over the top, but it was good I'm on a northbound cruise in August. I'll miss the copper river run, but are there any good places in port that grills up salmon well? Don't want the tourist traps that over season the fish. I have stops in Ketchikan, Juneau, Skagway, and Anchorage.
telesaps Posted April 17, 2004 #2 Share Posted April 17, 2004 Although it may be considered "touristy", many people on this board like the Salmon Bake. I think it is in Juneau. They grill the salmon on big outdoor grills. (I haven't been).

mpk Posted April 19, 2004 Author #4 Share Posted April 19, 2004 Thanks for the advice. I'll be sure to work it into the port stops. I hope they don't mind if I mosey on back to the grill for seconds...

mbisson Posted April 20, 2004 #7 Share Posted April 20, 2004 Couple years ago, on the Vision OTS they had a salmon bake on deck one day. That was really nice. -Monte some of my cruising photos: http://community.webshots.com/user/m1bisson A bad day cruising is better than a good day at work. The worst cruise I ever took was pretty damned good.
