okfarmerswife Posted April 24, 2004 #1 Share Posted April 24, 2004 Trying to get excursions lined up for 6/27 cruise. We have 8 total with 6 adults, 13 and 6 yr. old kids. We're definately doing the train(I've already read opinions from some who say it's not worth it) but I need advice from those in the know about which way to do it-train both ways or train/bus combo. Thank you! Kim
Wan Posted April 24, 2004 #2 Share Posted April 24, 2004 Go with the train/bus combo. The bus will make photo stops and the kids will be able to stretch their legs a bit. The roadway in many places is just across the gorge from the train track, as I recall. Have a great time!
Rare Coral Posted April 24, 2004 #3 Share Posted April 24, 2004 Definitely the combo and do the combo that takes you into the Yukon via bus. You go farther North with the bus. It is really the best of both worlds. I saw another combo which combines the train and Liarsville.
Fondy Posted April 24, 2004 #4 Share Posted April 24, 2004 What's the concensus on booking this individually or thru cruise ship? I know it's a short walk to train station vs right off the ship, but I'd rather just get everything booked prior to the start of vacation. Thanks! GJustice Posted May 3, 2004 #5 Share Posted May 3, 2004 We did the Train roundtrip last year, and decided to do the Bus to Yukon and train one-way. I'll post reviews of this year's trip when we get back, but I'm expecting the longer (twice as long!) trip to be much more exciting.
