just got back from Destiny cruise in the carribean. Was a good trip. The islands were GREAT! The ship was loaded with Latinos and kids running every where, the food was not so great. The room was clean. cool and well kept. I will not go back on the Destiny but will go back to the carribean. Carnival has some good ships out there but Destiny was just so so.

Destiny is full of Latino's with rude, loud teens! My 15 yr old daughter and i had a grat time and simply ignored them, The islands are great. Mahe sure you book something at each place, Barbados has a 5 star ctamaran and turtle incounter that is wonderful. Food and drinks are included in the price. A great trip.

the food aboard the ship is not great. we ate at Happy Valley on lido for lunch and the other 2 meals in the dinning room/ The buffets are handled by kids and teens that seldom use utencils.

The rooms are decent, clean and ours was cold most of the time, which was nice. We stayed in a suite. Balcony was a plus! Shows were good. casino had a lot of slots. Pictures aboard that the crew take were great.

When we go next year we are taking the Princess, You will have a great time if you get off the ship each day and book good excursians. Have fun!

We are booked for this on the Destiny as well, in September. Glad to hear it was good... did you book through the ship?

Hopefully in September the rowdy teens will all be in school ;)

WOW..... sorry to hear you only had a "so so" time on the Destiny. Did you just return last week?? We've already read some outstanding reviews of how nice the folks were on this cruise and how great the food was. I'd be interested in finding out your specific views and how possibly there are 2 completely different trips on the same identical ship and week. I know a vacation is up to each one of our personal likes/dislikes, but this is just so different.

So- what cabin? what dining room? what dining time? what lounges? what other cruiselines have you sailed?

Thanks so much! :)

I was on the Destiny 10 months ago and I thought the food was good in the dining room but the buffet was crowded, hot and the food so-so. Being during the summer there were lots of kids running around. I was on the Victory last week, which is the same class ship and there were long lines there also. So, I think it has a lot to do with the layout of the Destiny class ships, because I was on the Spirit in Feb, which is layed out differently and the lines were very short.

our cabin was a penthouse suite and very nice!We ate in the universal dinning room main seating. The food was fine, service excellant. Destiny way on floor 5 is where most of the action is. The only down side was it was soooo very crowed with young kids running around and a lot of rude teens yelling. We just ignored them. Mostly latinos which i have nothing against but loud and rude. We had great day trips and quite evenings. All and all it was a great trip. We have cruised on rolyal carribean radiance if the sea and the carnival pride both 2 beautiful ships. We are going to try Princess next.

I would rate the ship a 3 of 5, trips 5 of 5, and the food 2 of 5, service 4 of 5. Hope this helps

Thank you, that's very helpful information! I've always considered a Category 12, but settled with Aft Balconies or category 11. How did you like it?? Do you always book the best cabin available? Some might say it's a waste of money on such a port intensive itinerary, but I really like cabin and balcony amenities and space.

I can understand what happened on your cruise and that definitely reinforces to me to cruise in the fall or winter while school is in session- we always seem to cruise/vacation in September/October. I'd like to cruise Princess because of the fresh water pool, but am very afraid that the fun factor may not be there for us. I'd love to find out what you think.

We went in May and didn't have any trouble with "rude" or "loud" Latinos. Every Latino we met was very nice and considerate. The only loud people we saw were non-Latino middle aged couples laying on chairs on the lido deck yelling at each other and 2 early 30's couples from NY/NJ that were rude to the waiters. I believe that you will encounter rude and loud people everywhere you go and ethnicity has nothing to do with it. I was actually impressed with the non-rudeness of the teens on the ship as we had a lot of them on our sailing.

We sailed Destiny last October from San Juan. Yes, there were a lot of "Latinos" onboard, and yes, there were some people who were rude, but it had nothing to do with their ethnicity or their age.

The most obnoxious people were the older folks on the balcony next to us who came in after 10 pm every night of the cruise, slamming doors, talking loudly, sitting out on the balcony with four or five people drinking, partying until 2 or 3 in the morning!

But that has nothing to do with the ship, the people's nationality, or the cruise line!

In otherwords, be mindful that people of all races, ages, and sex can be rude, rowdy, indifferent, or offensive. They can also be polite, peaceful, caring, and agreeable.

Just walk away, and you'll find yourself having a great vacation on a great ship!

Having sailed on Princess, Celebrity, and now Carnival, every cruise/ship has it's differences. One you may like better than another.

In terms of the Destiny, she offered exactly what we went for. Great ports, an ocean, a balcony cabin, with food, entertainment, with lots of interesting people.

It wasn't perfect. It never will be. BUT IT'S STILL A FANTASTIC VACATION!

We cruised on the Destiny June 3rd. I would say the ship was about 50/50 Latinos/All Others.

I will agree that the Latinos are a bit loud...and they sure did fill up the buffett lines....but otherwise...they weren't bad or we didn't think they were rude. And we loved the ship. Thought the food was the norm for Carnival...(which is good). And we loved all the ports. We were busy everyday!!! We had a great time...and the Destiny is a Great Ship!

We've been on 3 other Carnival ships, and 1 Royal Caribbean....all of them large ships...nothing under 100,000 tons. The Destiny compares just fine with them all!

We've been back from the Destiny about 3 weeks now and and the majority of the Latinos we encountered were very rude and inconsiderate. We've decided to not go out of San Juan again. The islands and excursions we went on were great, however and if we could get to them any other way, we'd go again.

It is summer time. School is out. I am going on the Dec.9 trip so I hope to see a lot less kids.

What were you comparing the food to? Other Carnival ships or another line?

More details please on likes and dislikes.

Note: he said "loud and rude teen Latinos", the key word to me is 'teens'. For some reason teenagers tend to be just that once they gather in groups with slack controls. Add in the fact they probably think it is fun to insult people in a language the insulted don't understand and you are asking for some unpleasant company.

Boy am I glad I am going in December.

ECP, we will be on the same cruise on 12/9. I booked it because of the ininerary and have read good and bad about the ship/passengers since then. I hope things go well during our cruise. We aren't picky about food or the condition of the ship so I think we will have a good attitude, but we shall see.:)

We were on the June 3 cruise and loved it. This was my second cruise and my husband's first and we were in a cat 11 suite. We did not like San Juan all that much but overall had a great time. I thought our room was very clean and no signs of age were showing. The food was good and after paying an arm and a leg at the courtyard marriot isle verde for food, anything tasted great!

The islands are the reason I and two others with me are going. We expect to be off the ship single possible and aside from dinner together, we will be too tired to leave our cabins.

That is why I don't mind the last day to be a sea day, we will need the rest before going back to work.

I was on Destiny 2/4/07-2/11/07 and had a wonderful time.... As my cruise was approching I was getting really worried with all the negative reviews I was reading I wasnt too worried for me but for my cruise mates cause they had never been cruising befor but everything was perfect!! I heard complaint like: the rude latinos, it should be a latino cruise, the food sucks, no ac so on and so on... the only one that I experienced for a moment was the AC not being cold enough I mentioned it to my room steward and by the time it was time to go to bed that first night the problem was fixed... I would like to mention the obvious that I am latina, While I was aboard Destiny I was the minorty that week it seemed like almost all the passengers I came accross we Canadian... I even met a couple of couples that were from Holland....

To me a cruise/vacation is what you make it!!!

I will post a review soon! I hope you have a wonderful time. When we did the rivertubing in Dominica, I felt like I was on the Sandy river in Oregon accept that some of the plants were slightly different, lol, this was one of my favorite shore excursions. I recommend that you take a couple days off when you get home to rest. This particular cruise is exhausting!
