Cruiser's average age aboard the PG?

PLEASE don't take this the wrong way, I mean no offense to anyone by my following questions.

My dream cruise is the South Pacific, FP. My wife is a teacher, so we can only sail during the summer months. I was looking to book summer 08 to FP, but saw that Princess is pulling out

I see the PG, and it looks very nice. However, we are in our early 40s and don't want to take a geritol cruise (come on, you know what I mean :) )

If you knew me in real life, I love to joke around, and I am the easiest guy to get along with, so I am not meaning to offend anyone, but really, the term "geritol cruise" sums it up

Thanks in advance!

Then you should be fine.

We were on the 14 day Tahiti to Fiji cruise. I think that may skew older since you need both time and money to do a cruise that long now. Also it was in May which meant that only the colleges and universities were out an not elementary or high schools.

We had one child that I can recall and a baby on board.

DH and I are in our mid 40s and while some folks were quite a bit older they seemed to be in better condition and more active than many cruisers I've seen on more mainstream lines like RCCL.

For example I can't recall a single person using oxygen on the PG while there were many on our last cruise on the Voyager of the Seas (RCCL)

I'm not really sure what your concern is?

On the PG with open seating you don't have to sit with someone if you don't want to. DH and I ate breakfast and lunch by ourselves together and only had dinner with another person one night. Lunch is open seating and we did have nice lunches with several folks.

We tended to eat late and the room was full of the sounds of folks having a good time.

For the most part PG travelers are well traveled and urbane. I found no one who wasn't pleasant if not downright friendly.

The entertainment is not what you would expect from a larger ship, no real Broadway production shows, but I found it fine for my tastes. I liked the singer and the band Siglo. Siglo plays all kinds of music but what I recall the most are the 80's songs since that is "my music" from when I was in college.

The casino is tiny but I did see folks playing at the table they had. They had slots but since they were in a small room, and they don't interest me, I never noticed anyone playing.

I can't say much about the night life since we often up and out by 7 am but lounges were full before dinner and right afterwards.

As for excursions they have a good mix of active and "passive" excursions.

If you have any other questions let me know.

We have booked next summer again on the PG 7-day with our married children who are all in their 20's and 30's. Our 2006 PG Cruise had a much "younger" crowd than any Princess ship we've ever been on. The upscale experience of the PG (and of course Tahiti) is an amazing experience and not to be missed. SCUBA from the sports platform is the best! You will love it!

I would agree with the other posters that the demographic on the PG is a bit younger than their other ships. It also varies from cruise to cruise. In summer 2005, we had a group which you would call geriatric on with us, in their 70's and above.

But in general, if you're in your early forties you will have plenty of company. Now if you were a young honeymooner, not the same answer--I've felt sorry for some of them in the past, they looked pretty isolated (although it's beyond me why people want to socialize on their honeymoons anyways.)

I have met some very interesting older people, even on the PG. And don't count us out just because we are in our 50's or 60's (which is my demographic.) We're baby-boomers after all, ready for just about anything.

The PG has a little bit of a younger crowd than some of its other ships. I think that in the summer you will see a lot of people in their 40's. The band is superb, playing a lot of rock music. At the sail away, there is dancing on the deck as drinks are being passed out and it's quite invigorating. The suites are smaller that the other Regent ships as well, but I really liked the PG and plan on taking this cruise again.

It is difficult to figure out an "agerage age" for PG guests, as they seem to fall into threee categories. First, you have the yournger people, usually couples with no children. This included honeymooners, young married couples, and younger gay partners. Then, you have the "our kids are in college" crowd who may be in their 40's or so. Then, you have retirees such as us. Percentages of these groups vary from cruise to cruise, so an accurage "agerage age" would be impossible to determine.

What we can say, though, is that you can pretty well be assured that you will encounter plenty of fellow guests at (or near) your age group.

Richard,

People in their 40's with kids in college. Yikes! I am almost 50 and have an 11 and 8 year old. (I must have been having a great time to let all those years go by!)

We will all be on the PG next month, so I guess a fourth...and possibly fifth category is needed!;)

Well my fiancee and I are no wehere near the retirement age. I am 43 and she is 38 (yes this is not the first time we have been married). I have been on Celebrity, RCCL and Carnival. With Carnivaql being the exception you have a wide range of ages on the other. You will gravitate to the younger crowd! It looks like there will be a lot of us mid 40s and we look forward to meeting all of you on the cruise!!!

One thing about the guests who "frequent" the PG -- don't judge them by their age. You'll find many who are 60+ who are into adventure, race cars, private aviation, sky diving, scuba, and many such things. Few are ever to be found in a rocking chair on their front proch!

We have met people in their forties who could bore you to sleep and people in their sixties who go all night and make for great conversation.

Ditto that!!!

We are 39 and 40 and some of our greatest friends are in their 50s and 60s! They teach us how to live it up!!:p We will be on the 10day in June of 08!! (...leaving the kids home though!!):D

I will be 39 when my only child leaves for college and hope to be a veteran of PG by the time she is out. My DH is a year younger than me. So will another catagory be needed for us as well? Empty nesters in their early 40s?

PS...we tend to enjoy the company of people older than we are anyway. We do not have a lot in common with couples our age because they all have toddlers. Yikes!!
