cstrick Posted August 18, 2007 #1 Share Posted August 18, 2007 Several of the shore excursions on the Paul Gaugiun mention water shoes. What are they and where can I purshase them ? I understand that you need then to protect your feet from the coral and the various water creatures.
greytstuff Posted August 18, 2007 #2 Share Posted August 18, 2007 Don't know where you live, but I found mine last year at Wal-Mart, really inexpensive at around $6.00. I now use them for gardening. I first went to a sporting goods store and they were quite expensive there. No need.
Suitegurl Posted August 18, 2007 #3 Share Posted August 18, 2007 I also saw them at K-Mart for about $6 or $7 dollars. However at the end of the season, they usually mark them 1/2 price.
Wendy The Wanderer Posted August 18, 2007 #4 Share Posted August 18, 2007 Depending on the time of year and where you live, you might have to find them at a dive shop. We live in the north, and water shoes aren't available year-round anywhere else. But even then, they only cost about $20. They are really essential for times when you are in and around the water, but not wearing fins. There are bits of sharp coral and urchins, but also (rare) stone fish. The latter are deadly. ChatKat in Ca. Posted August 18, 2007 #5 Share Posted August 18, 2007 Land's End had them in their swimsuit catalog, Target sells them during summer/spring and Sportings Goods stores have them year round too.
micked10@earthlink.net Posted August 18, 2007 #6 Share Posted August 18, 2007 My husband and I just got ours at Wal-Mart and they were marked down to $4.00. I splurged ( ha) and bought 2 pair in case they don't dry out well or get smelly. Micked10
cruiseej Posted August 20, 2007 #7 Share Posted August 20, 2007 Both time we were going on the PG, we found them at Sports Authority, if you have those in your area. I imagine most larger sporting goods stores have them. You may also see them as "reef shoes" and "aqua socks". -- Eric
Nevian Posted August 21, 2007 #8 Share Posted August 21, 2007 You can buy 'Crocs' in male and female sizes in all colours on board, probably at a mark up. We found these did the job well and dried out instantly being plastic, so no smells etc, comfortable too. Nevian
