Mud Diver-

I feel your pain. I had the same dilema several years ago while cruising aboard the Norwegian Dream - they were out of stock - and I was out of luck, and my fleet of our cruises was incomplete. After many phone calls and emails, a kind soul was nice enough to purchase one for me while they were aboard the Dream and then mail it to me, at my expense of course. I now will be in a situation to repay a kindness. My daughter and her husband will be sailing aboard the Triumph in several weeks, and I will have them purchase a model and bring it home with them, and see that it gets to you.

Please post here how to contact you (email) and we will make all the necessary arrangements.

I saw this thread 2 days ago and wondered if I could find one of the model ships I've sailed on, on ebay. I found the Golden Princess, $9.99 + $8.95 s&h. So I put a watch on it. I went back to it yesterday and the high bid is, are you sitting down?, $80.00 + s&h. Somebody wants that model bad. So on my next cruise, if the ship has them, I'm going to buy a few and sell them on ebay to try to pay for my next cruise. $80.00 for a $12.95 investment, that's not bad.

I understand that one! We sailed on the Norwegian Sea before she was redeployed and totally forgot to get the model. Since she's been redeployed the Ebay items start at about $50 and go up from there! I settled for things like beer mugs, bells, etc. Just not willing to pay that price!

My DH boughta model of the Queen Mary 2 at a hobby store here. It was the kind you put together. He really enjoyed building it as it was very challenging. When he finished he mentioned that it would be great to have models of the Carnival ships we've been on. But he would like the kind that you have to build. Does anyone know where I can find this? I have checked Ebay and all over the internet.

Doesn't allways worke like this. ;)

We've tried. Specially if you try to sell several at the same time. We even waited between sales couple of weeks.

And $80 is very rare price.. You never know. For example we bought many models on Ebay for around $25 - $55, couple of times we saw real wars.. and RCCL giants (Explorer, Liberty) went for more than $100 each. My husband wanted to sell some of ours to free a space, and couldn't for $50.

I can't believe my luck. After searching for about 6 months I was able to find the ship model for the only ship I was missing. The Carnival Festivale. It is the same size as all the other ships sold and measures about 8 inches. It is extremely detailed and even includes the sun loungers around the pool. It is also made of resin and it includes even the hoists for the lifeboats. I can now move on and collect the ships as I'm on them.

Carnival Festivale 1989 southern carribean 7 day :)

Golden Princess 2005 southern carribean 7 day :D

carnival destiny 2006 western carribean 7 day

coral Princess 2007 Panama Canal 10 day

emerald princess 2008 classic carribean 10 day :D

Grand Princess 2009 carribean collection 14 day

We sailed on her in 2004, but didn't collect ship models at that time. We had to ask our friend to get it for us later... She bought it for us from the ship store, but unfortunately model looks more like Grandeur or Enchantment than like Splendor ots. :(

we love the models...although we didnt start it right away so we are without one for Caribbean Princess and Disney Wonder

Just so you know. Princess models are much smaller than other lines models. They even cost only $10 in ship stores vs $20-25 on other lines.

I really wished cruise lines' model were more precise and on the same scale.

Boy, I'm so glad that I read your note before embarking on the Coral Princess on Saturday. Model shopping is definitely on my list, and I'm glad to about the size of these in advance so I'm not disappointed.

I agree... it would be wonderful if they standardized the size of these so your "fleet" could be shown off on shelf with the size being relative.

Yes, the Coral Princess model is very small, but it is still nice. As a bigger ship, the Caribbean Princess model I have looks kind of smushed, since the model is the same size as the Coral Princess model, even though the ship itself is much larger.

Caribbean Princess looks like 1/3 or even 1/4th of other cruise companies ships.
