wcyellin Posted September 5, 2007 #1 Share Posted September 5, 2007 Does anyone know the location of the Cannes Tender Pier? Is it close (within walking distance) of the Hilton?
Rare Hlitner Posted September 5, 2007 #2 Share Posted September 5, 2007 The tender pier is located adjacent to a parking lot (Quai Max Laubeuf) at the edge of the Old Port. If you look on a city map you will seen this parking area at the water end of Quai St Pierre. As to walking to the Hilton I would estimate its about 1/2 - 2/3 of a mile, but its an absolutely delightful flat walk that takes you around the port and marina, past the large convention center (where they have the film festival) and along the seaside Croisette. Unless you have luggage or a handicap, I recommend taking this walk rather than grabbing a taxi. Hank
wcyellin Posted September 5, 2007 Author #3 Share Posted September 5, 2007 It sounds like a good 20 minute walk to pick up our car. Thanks for your help.
Rare hcat Posted September 6, 2007 #4 Share Posted September 6, 2007 Are there shops, ATMs & restaurants near the tender pier or in safe walking distance? Does anyone know how far it is to the tourist shuttle that takes you around to various sites?
Rare Hlitner Posted September 7, 2007 #5 Share Posted September 7, 2007 It sounds like a good 20 minute walk to pick up our car. Thanks for your help. That would be correct for most of the rental car dealers. If you are in a hurry you might be able to find a taxi. On our last visit (Jewel of the Seas) we were ashore so fast (by 8am) we were not in a big rush. But, we had priority tender service so we were on the first tender. Depending on the ship and whether you get priority, it can sometimes take a least 2 hours until you get tendered into the port. Hank

Does anyone know how far it is to the tourist shuttle that takes you around to various sites? Ok, lets take this one at a time. There are cafes and restaurants all over Cannes (it is a major shore tourist city) and the closest to the tender pier is right across the street from the Marina as you exit the parking lot adjacent to the cruise terminal. As to ATMs, like in most of France they are on almost every block. I do not recall any right at the tender pier, but once you get past the parking lot and onto the streets you will not have to go far. If you do not see one close to the old port, than on Rue d'Antibes (the main shopping street) you will find several on every block. As to the tourist shuttle bus, we have never used any kind of bus in Cannes. Its too much fun to just stroll and the thought if riding around in a bus would not make me a happy camper. But than again, when we are in Europe we love to walk, browse, sit in cafes, etc... and hate the idea of looking at streets through a bus (or car) window. goodshape Posted February 28, 2012 #7 Share Posted February 28, 2012 Could you please give me a location of the Tender drop-off area. When looking at Cannes on a satellite map on the left is an airport with a golf course below it. And on the right a harbor with boats parked on the left and right of the harbor. Is the drop off in that harbor (close to Bl de la Croisette) or is it somewhere outside that area along Bl du Midi or Bl Jean Hibert ?

Ok, if you are looking at a satellite view such as on Google Earth the harbor looks like a large cove. If you look at the left side of the harbor you will notice a marina along the left edge of the harbor (looking inland). If you use Google Earth and zoom in to that Marina you will see it has a small opening for boats to enter. The tender pier is located on the left side of that opening just before you get to the opening (not sure if this is clear). This is actually in a part of Cannes known as the Vieux Port (old port). The road that runs along that marina is called the Quai Saint Pierre and the tenders drop you just beyond the sea end of that street. Its hard to explain but easy to find when you are in Cannes :) Hank

Rare Hlitner Posted March 4, 2012 #12 Share Posted March 4, 2012 I probably should have made it clearer by saying its on the left side of the harbor when looking inland from the sea :) Hank
