GMoney Posted September 9, 2007 #1 Share Posted September 9, 2007 Well, we just started the second week of our B2B on Radiance. We are currently sailing up to Ketchican from Vancouver. The cruises have been very nice, and the weather has been excellent. Also met some very nice people at last week's M&M. Some quick comments: > Ship is in decent shape. Some signs of wear n tear. > We switched captains for week 2. > Reyno, the concierge, is tremendous. SO nice, friendly and accommodating. > Tons of first time cruisers on both legs. > Preparation is underway for next week's member cruise. More to come later. RTB - WE MISS YOU!!!! It is not the same without you...:(

tweetylori Posted September 9, 2007 #3 Share Posted September 9, 2007 I'm so jealous that you get two weeks! We're just back from the Vision of the Seas. Saw your ship, I do believe, in Juneau last week. It's beautiful! I wanna go back...NOW. Hope the weather holds up for you. It couldn't have been better for us in Juneau, Skagway, Tracy Arm Fjord & Prince Rupert. Enjoy for me, please!
AFT_LOVER Posted September 9, 2007 #4 Share Posted September 9, 2007 for the 2 week C&A Member Cruise that we booked onboard Jewel during that Member Cruise 5/2006. So 16 month wait for this. How is Kirk Detweiler as CD? So glad the Consierge is great too.
Murphy Posted September 9, 2007 #5 Share Posted September 9, 2007 Patrick, Please warn the staff that the "Polar Bears" are coming! Have a great 2nd week and hope you continue to have great weather.
GMoney Posted September 10, 2007 Author #6 Share Posted September 10, 2007 Quick update: We had the best weather today in Ketchikan. Partly sunny and nice and warm! We did the Misty Fjords floatplane with Michele and Island Wings - well worth it, especially on a good day of visibility. MACOP - Kirk is the CD. Murphy - Warnings have been issued shipwide. :D Carol - Thanks for your nice comment! I'll have a lot more to say when I'm home LOL. :D Before I forget, our new captain is Trym Selvag, for those of you who track these things.... Well, we are off to Hubbard Glacier. More later.... crbonfiber Posted September 10, 2007 #9 Share Posted September 10, 2007 for the 2 week C&A Member Cruise that we booked onboard Jewel during that Member Cruise 5/2006. So 16 month wait for this. How is Kirk Detweiler as CD? So glad the Consierge is great too. This Crbonfiber LIVE FROM THE Concierge Lounge. Sir Ronald where are you? We sure wish you and Pat were here. We are dining at chops tonight Kirk is a great CD for sure. Reyno is the best Concierge ever! Im so sorry you wont see him as Diamond members will not be givin keys to the lounge. That is sad for you. However, they will open Holloywood Odessey lounge for the member cruise.
WhenIsOurNextCruise Posted September 10, 2007 #10 Share Posted September 10, 2007 GMoney, Wondering if you know what the criteria will be for access to the concierge lounge for the upcoming 9/14 cruise - with so many members on board.

GMoney Posted September 10, 2007 Author #13 Share Posted September 10, 2007 Hello everyone. Since we are having a somewhat rough and stormy day at sea on our way to Hubbard Glacier, and since internet appears to be magically free, I thought I'd take a moment and post... CSK - Willie is on vacation. I believe he returns after the member cruise. However, I'm sure you will love Reyno. He is the second best concierge I've known (Francois Roux is always #1 is my book). Reyno has a great demeanour, is very helpful and runs a fabuluous lounge, right down to the music selections. He used to be a butler on the QM2, so you get the idea he's well trained for the job. I don't know the scoop on lounge access for next week's member cruise - sorry. I'm staying out of it because I think there's already some controversy brewing. When I was on the Med members cruise in June, the Hollywood Odyssey was opened and we had a great time in there every evening with the C&A folks that came in from land. I'm sure they will do something similar here. Either way, you will all have a great time. Other random notes for now: > Both pools are open for use. The water is heated nicely. > It's so odd to be on a cruise ship in cold weather with no deck chairs out. :p > Very few kids and younger folks on board, which makes sense given the time of year. > No NFL football yesterday. Fortunately, we still have American ESPN, so we get 2 games later today. > The Get Out There Menu is the absolute worst. If you are coming for the member cruise, find out what night they have it and get yourself to Chops. Well that's it for now. Hopefully things will clear up, the seas will settle down, and we will get to see the glacier!

AFT_LOVER Posted September 10, 2007 #15 Share Posted September 10, 2007 with this CL for GS+ only. With over 500 Diamonds onboard a member cruise, they need a DL with the Seattles Best coffeemaker for our free specialty coffee & continental breakfast in the AM. I HAVE TO HAVE MY LATTE or CAPPUCINO!!!!! HO is quite small for that large number of Diamonds so I hope they got a big bar for us all. The free cocktails with the side dishes are a must for us. I sent an email to RA_Concierge@rccl.com but heard -0-. Same with C&A. Did you have an OBC? We always do & use i for tips & cash it out before leaving. But now I hear it cannot be used for casino or gratuties. I booked our excursions at home, so they can credit our VISA then.

robtulipe Posted September 11, 2007 #23 Share Posted September 11, 2007 Keep the updates coming as DW and I have started to pack for the Radiance member's cruise that sails on Friday. I didn't know that this week's Radiance cruise was sailing and returning to Vancouver but that makes sense since it sailed down from Seward last week. This will be our second Alaska cruise as we did a Princess one way from Seward seven years ago. What are the mid-day and evening temperatures? We've registered for the meet and mingle and I have read but not posted on the roll call thread. It up to 9537 reply posts.
GMoney Posted September 11, 2007 Author #24 Share Posted September 11, 2007 What is a "get out there menu"? The Get Out There menu is a theme night menu, just like Feast of Nations or Venetian Feast. I find the fare to be sub par, so I think it's a great nitght to go to a specialty restaurant.
GMoney Posted September 11, 2007 Author #25 Share Posted September 11, 2007 Keep the updates coming as DW and I have started to pack for the Radiance member's cruise that sails on Friday. I didn't know that this week's Radiance cruise was sailing and returning to Vancouver but that makes sense since it sailed down from Seward last week. This week's itinerary - Ketchikan, Skagway and Sitka - is not the best. We only did it as a B2B as the icing on the cake, so to speak. But nothing to complain about. Most folks on the ship just seem to get off long enough to buy tshirts anyway. What are the mid-day and evening temperatures? Temps are cool but pleasant, and of course vary from port to port and hour to hour. Generally, it's upper 50s - lower 60s during the day and upper 40s - lower 50s in the evening. Today, while viewing Hubbard, it was 45 on deck with light rain. Visibility was limited, but we did get to see some very good calving. The Captain says we will have good weather tomorrow, whatever that means...:) RTB - I regret to report that Crbonfiber has boycotted tonight's welcome back party and will not be there to receive his congratulatory gift for most cruises from the Loyalty Ambassador. Expect a phone call tomorrow. :D
