Has anyone ever brought a mountain bike or kayak on board?

Just wonder if there is a certain procedure to bring a mountain or street bike on board -- my last trip, there was only one bike excursion but I was already signed on for another which coincided w/ it. And the ports we stopped in were condusive to biking.

I usually like to explore the cities/towns on my own rather than take Princess city tours (the more adventurous stuff I go through Princess). I've always done the kayaking trips through Princess but I'd like to bring my own the next time around (so many opportunities to bike/kayak in Australia w/o the help of Princess and I wish I had them w/ me).......

My guess is that you are out of luck on this especially on the kayak. Among other things how would you store such a thing and get it in and out of a cabin, up and down hallways, elevators. I am betting the answer is no.

I saw one of the staff walk her bicycle out of the ship on my last cruise. It's all such a blur now, can't remember who she was (spa staff, casino staff, entertainment, etc.), nor can I remember where it was. I first thought it was Cannes, but that was a tender port and I don't remember seeing it on the tender. Regardless where, I thought it was a great idea!

We are active types too, and asked and were told that bicycles were not allowed on the ship for passengers, BUT, they really couldn't stop you from bringing a folding bike, could they? You might have to break it down and put it together on shore, so as not to be wheeling it through the ship, but it would just be like any other item in your cabin. Also, for the kayaks, I can say with some certainty (based on the no bikes thing) that kayaks are also not allowed, but...here's a great portable one we've been looking at for just this purpose. 25 lbs. with gear in a duffel. You could carry it on and off with no trouble. I have come very close this summer to buying it and just using it for myself on the reservoirs around town as a pre-cruise check out.

I just returned from a cruise on the Caribbean Princess and there was a storage area near the area where we got onto the tenders that contained 6 to 8 bikes. I thought at the time they must belong to the crew.
