onevacationlover Posted April 22, 2009 #1454 Share Posted April 22, 2009 i dont know if its a good price or not but it came out to 500$ perperson, and nistead of the 300$ perperson oceanview room. We decided since its an extra cruise credit it'll bump us to 6 instead of 5 for that much instead of splurging on another cruise to get to 6... Sorry if thats confusing, but good logic or not? Logical to me;)

DaisyGirl55 Posted April 24, 2009 #1456 Share Posted April 24, 2009 OMG! I'll be stepping on-board the Monarch next Friday! EEK! I am so excited :D Definitely love living in a state with 5 different cruise ports all within driving distance. I'll get some laundry done this weekend, and gather my things. Then I'll pack my suitcase on Thursday, polish my toes, go to work on Friday morning - leave work at 11am and drive to the port. Step aboard, and get my first DOD.... I'll be sure to post my review and pictures when I get home. I have learned so much on this website, and I want to give something back in return. reeddi Posted April 29, 2009 #1461 Share Posted April 29, 2009 Those who have come off recently or going soon -- would you PLEASE PLEASE post the cruise compasses (fri-mon if you have it)? I have found a couple but they are older ones. Thanks Reeddi
rpertusio Posted April 29, 2009 #1462 Share Posted April 29, 2009 This is NOT my CruiseCompass, it is someone else's I found posted online. It is one from Feb 2009, which might be helpful if you can't find any others: I just got off a 4-nighter on Friday, and the Compass is pretty much the same as it was in the Feb 2009 listed above. - Ryan

I have found a couple but they are older ones. Thanks Reeddi I am going on the Fri-Mon cruise this weekend. I will save the Daily Compass, and see if I can scan them in and post them. While I am on the ship, is there anything else I can do? Have a drink for someone perhaps?

I will save the Daily Compass, and see if I can scan them in and post them. The 'Guest Relations' desk (deck 7?) has a bunch of extra Compass pages for each day, in case you want to save a nice copy, and mark/bend/fold your original :) Look to the right of the desk for a bunch of free papers and information. (They replace each day's Compass with a new one... so if you want to get one for each day, just grab one as you pass by.) - Ryan

Rare lazydayz Posted April 30, 2009 #1469 Share Posted April 30, 2009 Just returned from the 3 night cruise on Monday. We loved this ship. The crew is wonderful and food was very good. The refurbishment, however, did not include adding safes to cabins below deck 9. It was a pain to get a safe deposit box and retrieve passports late Sunday night, but all in all, this is a great ship that we truly enjoyed. The young purser she dealt with when getting stuff to wear for formal night wanted her to open it at the desk. She insisted that she have privacy and he escorted her to the office. For all those who miss Monarch from being in LA let me say that she is doing well here in Florida and those crew members that came with her are excellent. Captain Karen is unbelievably great! She did tell us that Monarch does not have a "For Sale" sign on it! The meals are of the best quality that we have had on a ship from PC in some time. :D

shabadoo25 Posted May 1, 2009 #1472 Share Posted May 1, 2009 We just got off of our wedding/honeymoon cruise on Monarch Monday. We are ready to cruise again, though we don't know how we will stand anything less than our Royal Suite experience, which was a once-in-a-lifetime splurge. We will likely do a 5 or 7 day Summer 2010. Coco Cay, the food and enjoying our suite were definitely the highlights of the trip. The crew made sure we had a memorable experience and we came home with a lot of memories preserved forever in pictures. As a newbie here, I am enjoying all the info and I feel that we will know all the tricks of the trade by the time we cruise again.

I can understand your wife's frustrations with that, on our past cruises we went in our room safe a couple of times a day. Looks like we will have to purchase some luggage locks or something. So let me get this straight RCL has safety boxes for all staterooms located below deck 9 at the purser's desk  Is this type of thing exclusive to the Monarch or is it the same fleetwide? So let me get this straight RCL has safety boxes for all staterooms located below deck 9 at the purser's desk  Is this type of thing exclusive to the Monarch or is it the same fleetwide? It is my understanding that there are a limited number of safe deposit boxes (first come, first served) available at the desk. I never used them. I kept my cash in my purse (generally had it with me), and passports in my cabin (or on my person when in Nassau), and did not worry about it. Maybe I'm naive, but seriously, if you want my stuff so bad, take it, and I'll file a claim with my insurance company. It's just stuff. However, when we go to Las Vegas every fall, our room has a safe, and I use it all the time for cash and my not-very-expensive jewelrey (a handful of opals worth less than most women's wedding rings) whenever I am not wearing it. For me, it wasn't worth the inconvienience. I think a nice luggage lock would be sufficient to deter the average petty theft, but again, if they want it that bad, they will probably take the whole suitcase! I learned a LOT from CC and this board, so I was prepared for the Monarch. I wasn't prepared for the adverse weather, and missing Coco Cay. I still want to go back there! Honestly, my next cruise (which, thanks to my DD) will probably be a Disney cruise... where the ships DOCK at the private island! I won't miss again!
