Port Days

Does anyone stay onboard on port days and are the spa, fitness center and dining rooms open?

ChaCha,

We always stay aboard in Port Canaveral as we've done the Disney/Universal-thang more times than we care to think about.;)

It is absolutely WONDERFUL as you basically have the ship to yourselves and everything is still open. We had lunch in Windows on the Spirit at 12:30 & I don't think there were 20 other people in the restaurant.

Hey Grandpaul, is this the port you won't mention?

Have a great cruise!

We've stayed on the ship on port days many times. It's nice and quiet on board, there are plenty of chairs by the pool, and you feel as if you "own" the ship. We were recently on a ship that closed the main restaurant on port days and you had to have lunch in the cafeteria. I did not like this and made a note of it on my comment sheet. But "what do I know, I'm just the 800 pound gorilla in the room".

Not Port Canaveral. I grew up watching the space program so any chance I get to see the Apollo Center at kennedy I go to it.

Howard. What ship were you on that closed the dining room?

Not sure what ship you are sailing?

On the Dawn and Jewel normally ONE main dining room is open plus the buffet and Blue Lagoon.

On the Dawn and Jewel, if it is the day of the evening of the Chocoholic buffet, the main dining room will be closed. Hope that makes sense;)

Spa should run "specials" for port days...watch your daily for the prices.

Gift shop and casino are closed while in port.

We also enjoy those port days "on the ship":)

Actually, the ship that we were on was NOT an NCL ship, it was the Carnival Legend just two weeks ago. After many, many cruises, that's the first time we have encountered a closed main restaurant on port days. I don't mind using the cafeteria for breakfast since I'm not a big morning eater. But I DO like to have sit-down service for lunch and dinner. ;)
